Haha! Well let's see: Guell- the swaying caused by the off-center mass during accel/decel is an... interesting... sensation. Don't think it will be hard to get used to, just different. Haven't gotten one up to speed yet though, just putted around. And it's surprisingly quiet. A nice tone, but not loud at all. I'm curious how the front disc/ rear-and-side drum brakes are going to behave on the highway though. Glitch- er, no? Should I get one? Brother- I just like sidecars, and the Ural is a very cost-efficient package. I also love the fact that they are so simplistic to work on. Sword, the some of the electrics on the 1125 are made by Ducati too! When I get my Ural first thing I am doing is converting to EFI, the last thing I need is an unfixable carburetor to leave me walking. | ||

Is this the 2wd? Badwebbers MUST HAVE A REVIEW! I recall when Fireman Jim and Terry got their URAL for a parts-chaser for http://www.jtsperformance.com/ it worked OK in-town but because it was speed-limited, the 55 top speed was a bit of a problem on long runs. | ||

Fit and finish aren't bad, but I've seen better. The rubber knee pads are cheap, the trunk lid closes metal-to-metal so it's rubbed the paint off at the contact points, and there tends to be a bit of surface rust in a few of the nooks and crannies (and the entire rear of the starter casing, for some reason?). But I expected that going in, and I believe it'll be a relatively easy fix. The rig itself feels rock solid, like you could plow with it, and the engine absolutely purrs. The turn signal lenses on the sidecar fender seem to be problematic... they're made of a different plastic than the others, and quite literally crack if you look at them the wrong way. The rig has ~4k miles on it, and it's on it's 3rd set of signals... and they're cracked.  Slaughter, no, this one is only 1WD. The 2WD can ONLY be used in mud and snow because the sidecar wheel locks directly to the pusher, which makes them damn near impossible to turn otherwise. I have no serious offroad adventures in mind, so I figured I'd save myself a few thousand $$$. I'm not sure what model Jim had, but from what I've been reading, Urals now can do upwards of 75 mph (if you're insane and willing to draft). The owner told me it'll comfortably do 55-65 all day, which ought to be plenty. I realized about 90% of my time on my Buell was spent in that same speed range. The worst part is the fuel economy. Between the weight (700+ lbs), the lack of aerodynamics, and the primitive engine, they only get about 30 mpg or so on the highway. ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on June 07, 2011) | ||

Sidecar removal takes about a half hour from what I'm told, but the leading link front suspension is especially designed for sidecar application. A hackless rig will do it's best to kill you, if the old timers are to be believed. Ural released a bike in '10 called the Solo T that sports normal forks. Also, their Retro rig has normal forks and can be ridden hackless. ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on June 07, 2011) | ||

Congrats, Swordsman, and drooool. The sensation you'll feel pulling you back during acceleration and pushing the sidecar forward under braking is called yaw. Do yourself a favor and get a copy of "Driving A sidecar outfit". If you are unable to find it elsewhere online, check with Printwerk Graphics and Design at 219.322.7722. Proceeds from the sale of this book are used to promote sidecars and sidecar safety, all a good cause and it is "THE" book to read on sidecar safety. If my schedule wasn't so creepy right now, I'd offer to meet up with you in GA and give you a couple hour tutorial. I may have some time and may stop over in Atlanta on my way back thru to FL in a few weeks. PM me if this is something you'd wanna do.
