Yea you don't want to click that. I suspect his email was compromised, I get similar emails once in a while from people I've corresponded with.

Sorry about that, I meant to change the link so you couldn't open it.

Saro sent me a note to say he had been hacked.

Yeah - same thing happened to me - gmail caught it at the 100 mark because I don't do too much private email, and I wiped it quick with Malwarebytes free stuff, AVG caught a root after the fact/wipe - paid for, if Malwares other stuff was as good, I'd go with them, but its not, however, their free stuff rocks for the fast catch and clean - nothing else beats it, even Norton was a step behind, mcaffee would miss half the time, Gasporoff, and a few others tried are a flip of the coin - missing ass many as they catch.

Kaspersky Internet Security.

Best thing I've ever done for my computers.

Install and forget - I never even know it's there, even during full system scans.

I get stuff like that 15 - 20 times a week ..... I don't open ANYTHING I'm not expecting or that makes sense.

But........ It was good to hear from Saro. I think I scarred him the night in backed a full block to get into a parking space in the East Village and then had to "relocate" a car to fit it. Gotta live a truck. He was doing okay until we found out it was an unmarked cop car and quickly made a run for it.

>>>>Hey Court is that a "Remind me to tell you sometime" story?

I'm not sure . . but it was funny as hell.

Saro was in town for only one night . . . I picked him up out by JFK airport and was going to take him to Chumley's for dinner.

We got down into the East Village and my first stab at his sanity was when I **thought** I saw a parking place but it was at the other end of a One Way street. I whipped the front end into the intersection, tossed the truck in "R" and floored it . . . Saro was a little pale . . holding in tight but generally faring well.

Turns it was a sparage (roughly the equivalent of a mirage parking space)

So off we go and lo and behold I spy the perfect place. Seems a little odd that a space would be open but what the heck . . I sized it up and it was about a foot shy of being long enough.

So . . and this is where the fact that "it was a dark and stormy night" is important . . the pavement was slick enough that I simply eased the bumper against the little Chevy with the blackened windows and put it where, no doubt, the owner had intended to.

Saro at this point is showing signs of duress but the promise of red meat and booze is the star he's hitched his sanity to.

I get it parked . . we jump out and start to walk . . I'm still amazed that the place was there.

Then I look up . . . "NYPD DETECTIVES ONLY".

Eeeeckkkkkk . . . I just pushed an Undercover NYPD car into a No Parking Zone (A fact I kind of omitted earlier) . . I told Saro . . "Quick, back in the car" and we were gone like thieves in the night.

I got him the steak and the booze. . . . but, looking back, I'm not sure I gave him enough.

This is the first time I've heard from him in years . . this spam attack . . and, frankly, I was relieved to find it wasn't directed at me . . . prima facie evidence that Saro is making a full recovery.

Texans hold up well to the rigors of "city driving" . . San Franciscnites . . not so well.

: )

Now you know . . . . . The Rest Of The Story

P.S. - None of this really happened if you get a call.

Reminds me of a thing that happened while attending ULowell in the early nineties:

A girl with a CRX parked a full-size pickup with a plow attachment in. She came back out to find her car had been pushed sideways into the street with the pickup having left.

I had heard this from a friend that lived in the dorm overlooking the parking area and thought it was just you know, a story.

Then he showed me the little Honda a few days later with the unmistakable profile of a plow hitch mashed into the right side.

I feel really dumb about posting that live link. I recognized the email was bogus and wanted to warn everyone but in my haste I didn't change it to make it worthless. Hope no one got burned from it.

I hadn't worked with Saro for a couple of years but I thought maybe he caught wind that I was going to be out in his area in a week or so and was touching base.

Saro and I used to cross paths pretty regular here in SoCal. Haven't seen him for a while.
Maybe it's 'cause I'm 'between Buells' and don't frequent the same venues anymore.

Anyone been in contact with him recently?

IIRC he was putting a turbo on his S2 - maybe he got it done and can't slow down enough to post here.

What's a little spam between friends? Besides being a delightful sandwich stuffer & breakfast meat (fry up some slices & enjoy with over easy eggs), spam is amazingly useful.

* Lay out some slices & dry 'em in the sun. When they reach just the right consistency (this takes experience) they make great knee (even elbow) sliders.

* Stop those annoying air cooled oil leaks. Just add some of the spam sludge to your crankcase and ride.

* Apply directly to road rash. Spam & a little duct tape makes a great poultice.

Ok, ok. I got hacked. So did a deceased former coworker and a still living coworker by the same cats. Coincidence? Dunno. Sorry for anyone it hit. EZ notified me on FaceBook so I decided to check in.

I haven't really been around the badweb for a while. While I like everyone, I started to find I was getting too involved in our differences. Better when I don't get involved.

Mike- I be alive & kicking. You still need to make sure you look me up when you're in SoCal. We'll cook you up some good grub - and we live on a serious road.

Al- My riding stopped being recreational a few years back and wound up being purely transportation. Things never really sat the same since. We should do a 100 mile hamburger thing someday soon.

Court- I have NO idea what you're talking about. I was in NYC for one night. I think the flight attendant (a rather friendly gent) slipped me something in my drink. All I recall are nightmares and headaches. Weird, trippy stuff like some crazy dude giving me a running tour (seriously - running) of Grand Central Station. Weird. Same dude wound up cramming me into his truck in some weird Secret Policemen's Demolition Derby.

I do miss being on here.

-Saro

"We should do a 100 mile hamburger thing someday soon."

Sounds like a great idea!

Hundred mile hamburgers are probably my second most favorite food.

Hooooray ...... Saro us back!

My opinion ..... 50 miles out for a burger .... 50 miles back for pie.

Perfect diet.
