Let's say you own more than one Buell and there is a tornado bearing down on your area.

And you were the only one home! So you have to ride out on one.

Which Buell would you choose to save? You've only got two minutes to make up your mind! Come on, which one will it be?

Give us some choices to choose from. : )

It would most likely be the one that is most rare / hard to replace. Then hope insurance will cover the other/others.

A rare Tuber(If I had one.), would probably be the one to get saved. For you, I'd take one of the X1's

bad question
120 seconds before the twister hits your place - think of the time just to pull the bike out, crank it, get helmet on and start off. By the time all of this happens the tornado will be close by and then I wouldnt want to be sitting on top of a very light piece of metal (during a storm) with extremely high winds.

Love both of my Buells, but F it, if they get trashed then oh well, its just a motorcycle, insurance will cover costs and i'll get another.

Tornadoes? I've been through three of them. Never got hurt in any of them.

If you're screwed, (or your bikes are) you're screwed, it doesn't matter what you're riding.

without poking holes in your question: i'd choose my 1125 cuz it's faster and smoother than my XB9. IMHO it is a generally 'more-gooder' bike in every aspect
but fuel economy
i've seen tornado damage first hand. just 2 weeks ago, so it's still fresh in my mind.

but it's all situational. am i in a substantial structure, or a porta-jon? do i have an escape path? are the roads rideable?

insurance can't cut a check big enough to bring me back to life. ...

Survivalist choice is the Ulysses. After that either the rarest one, or the one with the most emotional attachment.

Besides, high speed escapes from disaster only work in movies.

Best bet is to go to ground. You can still pose the question with style if you have a basement with access for the bike. That scenario would actually give you a possibility of a choice.

So, just time to drag/ride one into the shelter......

I'd take the sentimental choice.

I don't know how to wrap my mind around this concept, because we don't have tornados in the U.P.

Two,

.02 sarcastic cents ; )

I like your post and the question you posed. I did not take time to dissect it, and examine it's flaws. I did not spend the time it takes to respond, only to not answer your question. I looked at the spirit of your post, and tried to put myself in the place you were talking about: If you could save one of your Buells, which one and why. Silly me, one day I'll learn that it's not about the IP's intent, but how I can satisfy my own need to comment, without being helpful. - Wait does this post itself qualify? Maybe I am learning!

Aesquire, Good point about the Uly.

Really it's a good question. Classic "if you can only have/save one..."

I did avoid getting into 4 pages of how your odds on survival suck with the proposed action.... Like any citywide panic, run scenario, escape routes become impassable parking lots........

.....and that's why you should... Ooops I did it again. Sorry.

Edited before posting, because, really, it's nitpicking. ( and still a movie stunt 99% of the time )

Well, the reason I pose this scenario is because there becomes an emotional attachment to a Buell the longer you ride it.

Kind of like a woman who, because of your desires, you marry. But what about the part "till death do us part". Maybe what Slaughter is alluding to above.

As I've mentioned before, my passion for motorcycles was rekindled once I sat on my 1125r almost one year ago. As so many hear say, I couldn't wipe the grin off my face. I felt so connected again to the universe around me. I could cruise through life at warp speed or not...cool!

Then I got my next bike, a 1999 X1 Lightning that CWitt reluctantly parted with. Immediately, I became attached to this bike and understood then what people on this board meant when they talked about their relationship with their tubers. From the moment I left Curtis' dad's farm on that X1, I was in love again, to a different bike. It felt sinful at first, but exhilarating and lustful at the same time. I couldn't take my eyes off her. My other bike, the 1125r sat cold during the early days of Winter 2010. It didn't feel right, as both touched me in different ways in my soul.

Then I made another sin. I bought bike three, the 2000 X1 Lightning. Completely stock, kind of like that girl you see who reminds you of a love long ago that still looks the same after all those years. It was an impulse buy as I did not even ask the salesman to start it up for me, I'd do that in the darkness of my garage with my other mistresses! I did not have to wait long until my interest waned as she started to show her age...rear shock leaking in the warmth of her new home. Maybe she was jealous as the other two were sexier looking and she felt she could let her hair down for, after all, her master was older too.

At last, Spring is here, so I took each out to get some miles in and fresh gas too. Now I feel as though I have a concubine and all three do different things for me.

As my life matures (I'm getting rounder) my bikes reflect my past loves.

Maybe in those two minutes I could lash them together and the combined weight wouldn't let the wind carry my loves away from me as the song I'm A Believer by The Monkees plays in my head...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfuBREMXxts

Ride on brothers and sisters!

I'll see if the garage is still there after the storm, I'm going down into the basement and taking a nap.

I have couple underground parking lots right by my house. I would grab the box o MRE'S at the back door on the way to the bike...X1 is the fastest. But my new Kawai zx10r is even faster. But i would save the X1.It is rare compared to the kawi.
