"Nothing like socializing the fact that gas might get to $6/gal so when it does it's old news and no one cares... At this point, the oil companies have no reason NOT to charge $6/gal by August."

agree 100%!
I hate these things for this exact reason
It gives the companies free range to go up cause 'we were warned' etc

Its bogus

It all sucks

Bush. Obama. It doesnt matter who is in office, people need to realize that. The president is the head, held up by many people making up the neck and turning it

O by the way as this is EARTH day I think I will protest by.
#1 crank up all tractors--trucks--cars--motorcycles--lawn mowers--next I will turn A C down to 60--turn on all lights--chop down some trees--go to trash pile and see if I can find some old tires to burn.

You're on a roll, Cowboy. You're also right about the Republicans who can really be described as "democrat-lite". I'm a true conservative but will have to vote libertarian as my conscience won't let me back most of the current republicans.

There are some good guys out there but not nearly enough.

Oh yeah, see if you can find an old railroad tie to throw on that fire for me.

We're going to have to roll up our sleeves and do the hard work like paying more for gas if we want to reduce carbon emissions. Everyone must do their part. That goes for electricity, water, food, and luxury items like alcohol and cigarettes.

I'm a preservationist, but I'm not going to sign onto that making people poorer while making rich people richer all while attempting to limit the use of a natural resource that is both questionable as to its contribution to climate change AND will get burned up at some point down the road anyway is a solution to anything but making a few tree huggers feel good about themselves.

Gas may have been cheaper under Bush but the dollar also had more buying power. Its not obamers fault the dollar is so weak now but this really has a positive effect if you think about it. Americans will now consume less.

You must be right. I mean, it's not like we've been a recession for years and people have already cut back as best they can. Oh wait, they have.

It's not like more expensive gas means my car gets better fuel mileage. Wait... something's amiss...

It's not like my commute gets shorter as the price of gas goes up. Ok, I'm confused.

It's not like we're in a recession and I can't just go out and buy a new, more fuel efficient car with my big fat paycheck. Hold on, this isn't adding up.

Think before you speak. Please.

And let's remember why cars in the U.S. don't get as good of gas mileage as other parts of the world. The EPA won't allow small diesels in because they're too dirty and the NHTSA keeps making car makers bolt on all kinds of heavy and fuel-robbing doo-dads to protect the stupid in our society.

Your wrong. Higher fuel/energy prices and weak dollar means less pollution, less consumption and fewer dollars to the middle east. It may kill our big economy but America has gotten to big for its britches. We need a dose of reality to how people around the globe live and in my opinion we are going in the right direction.

Don't worry it will seem normal after awhile.

Johnny.....

I assume you are being sarcastic but your words are similar to the sentiments that many Libtards felt during the Carter administration. They were clearly wrong when the Emporer, Reaganus Maximus, showed us of the Greatness of America.

I love it how this Piece of Nothing in the White House yesterday started a commission to find out why the price of gas is getting high. The first place for him to look is in the mirror.

Let's focus on ousting this Marxist from the White House and retaking the Senate.

America is no more great than Greece, Spain or Russia etc and more Americans are waking up to this fact. We are a global community that must all get along and share the responsibilities of being good stewards of this planet. Having said that $6/gallon gas seems pretty decent. Its just too bad we havnt had the right kind of leadership in the past to bring us to this realization sooner.

I'm far from a jingoistic flag waver but....

Should we remind any country in the rest world of this the next time they ask for support/aid from the US?

How about cutting off all foreign aid?

I understand (but dont agree) with your feelings about the cost of fuel. However, to think that we are "no more great than....." is ignorant in the face of the fact that the rest of the world looks to the US for support and or partnership in any international action/activity.

Or was that a blatant TROLL to stir everyone up.

I don't think so. He's the humanoid who started the "I know how to solve our oil problem" thread. He said higher prices are the answer. That way we drive less. I would not mind if he just went and moved to the places he says we have to become. His train of thought makes me believe in public euthanasia. And no I am not kidding.

BTW: This is my 1000 post, just thought I'd throw that out there : )

I understand that, but how does equating the US to Greece relate to standing up for the "working man"?

This is a great country; one of, if not the greatest in the history of mankind.

Maybe I'm missing your point.

wait for it..... ok, let me show you how the gob thinks, and you may want to take a big drink o alcohol when I am done.

I remember in 78, and have movie proof of it, that gas was about 76 pergallon.... now index that with say the comparable price of a new mustang (I use mustang because it has 50 years of production with recorded price history) In insurance there is the law of 7's & 10s in that the nominal price of durable consumer goods will nearly double from the relative benchmark to the forward point 7-10 years down the road.....
so simply algerbra to a consumer price index of consumables v durables ....
gas was .76/ mustang was 4800.... today the mustang of similar model is 28600,.... gas should be about 4.52, and it is damn near that.....(if you think gas is supply and demand priced, you need a more than a simple lesson in economics) it is severely regulated and controlled.
its not that gas costs soo much more; the buying power of the dollar has just degraded so much. The relative relation of gallon o gas to price of new car has remained largely static.... it is the same for healthcare insurance . everyone bitches about the price of the monthly premium.... based on BoL states back to 28, it has consistently been 8-10% of adjusted annual proportion to the mean value of a 1500 sq foot home. do the numbers.

http://www.google.com/search?q=history+price+of+th e+mustang&hl=en&sa=G&prmd=ivns&tbs=tl:1&tbo=u&ei=a texTcC_H9DSiALLo8CvBg&oi=timeline_result&ct=title& resnum=11&ved=0CGkQ5wIwCg

I honestly can't tell if Johnny is being silly or serious. His stuff is so completely ludicrous and jingoistic that I'm pretty sure he is about to tell us to pull his finger.

Johnny... what say you?

Let's do it for the children. All Republicans want the elderly to eat dog food. And want children to starve. Let's prevent global cooling (1972)... I mean global warming (2004)... I mean climate change (2011). We all have to kick in and pull our fair share. I am a Democrat (1968)... I mean Liberal (1998)... I mean Progressive (2011). Let's tax the rich so they pay their fair share. The government is losing due to tax expenditures. This deficit is necessary to produce shovel ready jobs. Cash for clunkers will save the environment. The Fairness Doctrine is fair. Requiring bidders on government contracts to disclose their political contributions will eliminate bias.

Hey, I'm getting pretty good at this.
