The EU and the UN have been slow to react on the pirate issue.
I have a friend who used to live in Seychelles Islands and sent me the video link. I never would of gotten this news feed in the US.
Joel Morgan rocks. But at some point they are going to run out of room.

If you have 16 min and your interested. It really is a great video.

Yes! But go farther... Take the fight to them! Attack the coast, while the boats are on shore. Send the commandos to punch holes in the boats. Somalia gangsters have declared war IMO, So: Go, Hunt, Kill!

Building a "Special" prison? F-That. Why should they bear the cost?

ABSOLUTELY! The pure cost of this piracy in enormous. Much better return on "our" investment. Wasn't Somalia a Clinton screw up? Black Hawk down and all that...

Want to know why nothing has been done about this? Because we've all become gutless p******. This is crap. All I'm seeing is how the UN, EU, US, hell every country out there doesn't have the balls to do what is necessary about this. This is why they're expanding. We could contain this easy, but no one wants to do what has to be done. Sink their ships and execute them at sea. Hell, don't execute them. Let them swim back for all I care.

If they are using pirated ships for mother ships how hard can it really be. Identify the pirated mother ship and sink the damn thing. Appropriate use of technology would make it very easy to find, track and kill them. If you happen to pick up a survivor give them the option of providing intelligence on their land based operations or getting instant justice under piracy laws. It's pathetic that in these modern times we are being threatened by this sort of thugs at sea.

2010 saw over 1100 taken hostage and more than 50 vessels.

You MUST be willing to write off the lives of the 600+ folks of 20 or so different nationalities still being held hostage and for ransom.

Once that commitment is made then it becomes easy.

Who is first? Who wants to tell the various foreign governments that their citizens are marked as dead?

Deterrence? Absolutely!

International concensus and action? You MUST be kidding.

The world has waited too long. We have all seen that terrorism has been proven to work when properly "managed."

That is certainly not stopping the bloggers... GO FOR IT internet warriors, go for it.

Even with hostages on board, the ships can be found, tracked and contained. At that point make it clear that if the hostages are killed there's zero hope for you as a pirate, your life is about to be measured in hours or minutes. Take a hard line and you limit the innocent lives lost in the long run. Hand wringing is making piracy a growth industry.

Well isn't captured boats what we have seal teams for?

Somalia in general carpet bombing would be a good start.... J/K

Contact them by radio via aircraft. Give them 15 minutes to set a course to a port of your choosing where they will surrender peacefully and face a real trial. Any deviation will have dire and lethal consequences. You could cover a much greater area this way than sending in seal teams on small boats and not endanger military personnel unnecessarily.

From the very last of that video...

Al shabab, taliban style islamists looking to take over in Somalia and who are linked with al qaeda are involved.

As far as I'm concerned, the pirates are right here on Long Island and they run gas stations:

"under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket…even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad, because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, natural gas…you name it…"

High fuel costs are a "good thing" according to our president.

I dont care if the laws are 'archaic' String them from the yard arm, keel haul, walk the plank, sink on site STILL works.

Kinder and Gentler is best issued from the report of the muzzle.
