Any thoughts on this? Is this a quality camera?

I would recommend the Motorsports HD 1080 Gopro w/LCD bac for motorcycle applications.

I have been shopping cameras for a while and from what I have read, "GoPro" brand gets great ratings and high reviews. It is one of the most expensive sport cameras on the market but comes packed with features and a lot of accessories are available.

I plan to purchase the GoPro Motorsports package. It has more features than the 960, has an expansion port on the camera, and comes with a wide variety of mounts.

The 960 was released later than the Hero original, at a lower price point.

Details...Go Pro 960
http://gopro.com/cameras/hd-hero-960-camera/
"Missing from the HD HERO 960 are 720p @ 60fps, 1080p video, and the HERO BUS expansion port in the rear of the camera that will let you take advantage of GoPro’s forthcoming BacPac accessories – LCD screen & Battery Extension – both important features for filmmaking hobbyists & professional videographers that are compatible with the original HD HERO camera." (Excerpt from 960 info page)

So it sounds like many accessories are not compatible to the 960.

They also make a base modle camera too, the 170.
details...SD Hero 170

I think that there are other "Off Brand" cameras available that are as good as the 170 for less money.

There are many videos on YouTube to see the quality of the footage the camera films.

GoPro is one of the cheapest solutions for underwater video. I'm looking real hard at one for my next trip. It has some focusing issues underwater because of the shape of the port on the housing, but there's a relatively inexpensive fix for it.

I'm on my second GoPro.
First one didn't survive. : D

Anyway, I also would vote for the Motorsports Hero, not the 960, mostly just for the plethora of mounting options that come with it.

Also, I think the 60fps mode is very worthwhile to have. It's always fun to be able to do slow-mo without losing quality.

And another note, that price on eBay is normal retail price, FWIW.
It can be found for less at Amazon, and probably many other places.

When setup right, they do take some great video.
(not saying I haven't had issues with mine)

So I am clear. I would have to buy an SD card? 32GB?

Also, is there a special mount that I'll need that doesn't come with the camera? I would like to mount it to my tank. Helmet too maybe.

I was just thinking of getting the same camera. I actually like the contour more if I were just going to use it on the bike, but the gopro can be used like a regular still camera as well. So I can use it for more than just bike video

SD is correct.
I use a 16gb, but may pick up a 32, we shal see.

The Motorsports kit comes with pretty much anything you will need.
Suction cup mount, and many different sticky mounts for flat or curved surfaces.

Make sure the SD card you buy is fast enough to keep up.

the SD gopro sucks don't waste you time.

The gopro is better that the contour for motorsports.

Also look at the Drift HD170 stealth with its remote.

http://driftinnovation.com/

I have used them all and prefer the gopro for my shots.

I know the Transend 16GB class 10 work well in all GoPro modes. Alot of cards are not faste enuf to record.

http://www.vio-pov.com/products-all/pov-hd.html

A guy in Canada that I know has both this and GoPro HD, the video he has shown me from the VIO POV is way better.

They also have a more expensive version that uses a less wide lens. http://www.vio-pov.com/pov-tactical.html

If I had it to do over again, the VIO HD camera would be the one to have. And yes I do have a GoPro HD and the LCD, it's decent for the price paid and fills a few needs. that other cameras have a harder time filling.

If you are not worried about money. I have used this $40,000 little cam a few times before. Great images.

That Iconix looks a lot like the Panasonic, did they make it for Iconix?
