Colorado Springs

Why, I can't explain it, mountains, mountains, and more mountains. Cool looking roads and more cool looking roads. You can feel the heat of the sun through the roof of the house. The people are pleasantly friendly. I stopped to eat on the way to no where and there was a group of blond headed surfer kids walking down the street, only with skate boards, and the only waves were the the surrounding streets. Less than 50 miles north west are incredible 2 lane highways, and wild animals roaming the plains and foot hills. I have memories of roads following small rivers cutting through the foot hills and planes, at the time I could imagine riding my motorcycle through those curvy roads.

yep, Colorado Springs it is...

Learned to ride at the vacant field off of Oroblanco across from Doherty HS, I am sure it is fully developed and subdivided now.

First day of kindegarten I got in trouble for riding to school in the flood run off ditches
Carver had to put in a no mini bike policy after that .... (bastards)

For me,gotta be Lake Tahoe,CA.Spent my younger years at our cabins there with my grandparents(best times of my life hands down)no tv-didn't need one,was outside all the times, exploring, hiking, playing hide an go seek w/other kids up their, best fall, baseball games in the meadow, going to the lake to swim.Later on in life, lived there for 7 yrs and loved it there still, even in the winter-cross country skiing. So many things to do year round there...dirt bike riding,4x4ing(got the Rubicon Trail that comes out there)water sports up the kazoo, some of the most scenic roads to ride a bike on in that area(tons of twisties there). The smell of the forest, the thunderstorms, the night skies(the stars are unbeleivable, way more to be seen there-not as mush light there, astronomer's paradise)only way to describe it.. you gotta go there to experience it personally to fully grasp the beauty and the"WOW" factor. The sunrises and sunsets, the same.I've got quite a collection of photos of them that still amaze me.

Casa Grande, Arizona
Small city. Very quiet and beautiful weather most of the time.
Not many trees or grass. A plus in my book.
Go Erik Buell Racing!

Western TN? You might wanna take a ride through EASTERN TN before you make your final decision.

Me, I really like Nashville.
It's in the South. No state income tax for most. Its the biggest small town. Lots of musicians and creative type folks. Good food. Great schools and lots of big thinkers and smart folks. GREAT ROADS start about an hour out of downtown. For my employment, thriving TV business for a town of its size and location. Decent climate. Thriving downtown for a town of its size and location.

But I have always contemplated San Diego, CA Asheville, NC and Colorado Springs, CO. But the least of the evils is Asheville, NC.

Asheville, NC:
It's in the South. Mountains. GREAT ROADS in every direction! Blue ridge parkway. For my employment, thriving movie making business for a town of its size and location. Decent climate. Thriving downtown for a town of its size and location.

1. Whistler, BC - not likely unless I hit the lotto, twice.
2. Bend, OR
3. Ashland, OR

Good to Great skiing
Good to Great Mt. Biking
Good to Great Beer (BC in general rates low on this list, Bend, very high.)
Excellent riding roads.

I actually worked there during college. There is a 650 Mw Coal fired Power Plant there. It is called the East Bend Station, I worked on Unit #2 back in 1978-80.

Then moved down river to Ghent Power Plant. My first office as a punk engineer was walking structural steel on the top of the powerhouse, 230' above the ground. VERY scary that first day of work!

Only after we'd left NYC did I realise the *huge* opportunity I'd missed, we never went to any gigs while we were there. I should have said "Court, take us somewhere for some great music", I'm sure he would have taken us somewhere for some great blues or jazz that we never would have found on our own.

So how about LA? I've been getting into Five Finger Death Punch lately, who are from LA, so where would I find some great hard rock/metal music in LA on a friday or saturday night? How about in the last weekend of May? : D

Prescott Arizona. High in the mtns. still dry of the desert, but you get four seasons. you are only 1 1/2 hours from phoenix, almost to flagstaff.

San Francisco Bay area. Clayton. Almost always nice weather and roads. Great folks. High price to live there though.

Fort Bragg. Neat little town along the Northern Cal coast. Ocean layer and fog in the mornings till about noon. Clear till about 3 pm, where the cool ocean layer comes back in. Sweat shirt weather. 10-20 miles from warmer weather and sunshine. Great roads.

Colorado Springs. Great air, great mountains. 4 seasons. Always a fun place with people having fun, vacations, etc.

P3X-974 is about my flavor.

Well, that is, if we ever figure out a way to get there. I think I would really enjoy the climate, the people and the blessings of Thor.

Of course none of this exists in reality. But in the StarGate reality it does.

I think I'll move back home to Texas when I am done with active duty service. Not sure where just yet but central Texas is a nice place.

I really like where I am now, however, I'll agree with that small minority here, Colorado Springs is totally nice, and of the world I've seen - enough - That area of Colorado just can't be beat. Twisty roads, beautiful country, and friendly people - can't beat it!

Southern Spain - Great friends, great roads, awesome food, the Med AND the Atlantic within 2 hr drive...great place!

Southern France would work too!

Colorado or N Cali would be my choice stateside.

In the process of making the switch from active duty Air Force to retired AF. Give it a few years and we're moving from here.

The AF took over the umbrella command of NSG facilities out on the Azores, some absolute stunning beauty out there, and if you can fenaggle on base in a retired status; amazing place. I hated ever leaving.
I would go back in a heart beat, hell I would even spend the time to pick up that language this time.

Chattanooga TN, Alstrom just built a steam turbine plant there or Charlotte, NC Seamens just built a gas turbine plant there. Either would be fine for me it put me closer to family, A good job and about 2 hours from one of the best roads in America. But it would be tough to pick up and leave the job I have now.

I'd move back to western France like a shot, but I'd like to buy a little holiday home around here.

Skiing in the winter, & roads that surpass Deals Gap with very little traffic on them.

Reasons? the people.
It's a money culture around here & nobody gives a ratsass for you or yours, just your wallet.
I've had this f*** you attitude stuffed in my face a good number of times since we moved here, everybody told me it would be like that & I thought they were just laying it on a bit thick, but if anything they were playing it down.

Damn I miss Brittany.

Possibility exists of a job in Greensboro, NC. I interview next Friday.

I worked an 8 month contract job in Greensboro in 2006/2007 and liked the area very much. Things I like about the area are:
People are generally friendly there
Cost of living isn't as bad as many places I've been.
Everything I'd ever need can be gotten there yet easy to get out into the country.
All four seasons but winters are mostly mild.
Mountains are close enough to make it a day trip. Ocean can be visited for the weekend.
I'm closer to family there. 4 hours ride time from my oldest sister and 8 hours from another.

Over all, I'd be happy to go back to Greensboro.

Oh yeah, one more thing. It puts a couple of states between me and my nasty tempered ex wife.
