Well, I sold a scanner on fleebay. I knew it was trouble as soon as I looked up the weaner. Member for years with a 1. Next he wanted me to send to a different address than his paypal. So, it was less than 50 bucks, I sent it to the other address with delivery confirmation. It was supposed to get there today. I checked the USPS confirmation. It was delivered. I go to fleebay to check for feedback. ARGH, Negative and a comment that it doesn't work as intended. I am thinking loony farm escapee. I would have made it right even if he just didn't know how to use it, or program it. It was my personal scanner and worked fine. I pulled the batteries out of it and wrapped it in a few layers of bubble wrap. surrounded that with wadded up paper in a box with at least 6" of crushable space. My gut was right, rats. I wrote and asked him why and what is wrong with it.

Thanks for letting me vent.

I hate when fleebayers give negative feedback as a first course of action. I've had a couple of transactions that I found pretty disappointing, but the sellers saw the cause for my disappointment and we found favorable resolutions that worked for both parties. There are those folks out there that would rather just be mad and disappointed. Negotiate first and keep your powder dry!

Ask ebay to remove it, if he never gave you a chance to make it right he doesn't have the right to give you a negative. May not do any good, but you never know.

Good luck, hope you are able to get it removed, or resolved better anyway. I believe you can dispute the neg feedback since I've seen rebuttals to neg feedbacks left on sellers accts when considering buying an item from a seller I've not dealt with before.

Ebay has become a "buyers have all the rights" place and it is making it more and more difficult to justify selling there.

I hope it gets fixed for you Ray. I would second Greg_e's statement that Ebay may help you if you show he hasn't tried to resolve the issue before leaving negative feedback. Good luck

I got his phone number and will try to call him. Could be good or bad. I will just bite my tongue if it goes south. My goal is to get it retracted. Have to figure out what his is and if we can help each other out.

His goal is to get something for nothing. Or he is 10 and shouldn't be buying things on the 'net.

I know how you feel. I've never sold anything on ebay, but I've had a couple of transactions that upset me a bit.

I bought some used dvds on ebay(Futurama seasons 1-4) for a good price. The seller had them listed as "like new--as if they had just been taken out of the original packaging." Well, several of the discs were scratched. I told him I was a bit upset because the discs weren't as described and wanted to send them back. He thought I was trying to scam him (rip the movies, send 'em back). It went back and forth a couple of emails and he even said, "I never claimed that the discs WEREN'T scratched..." He wouldn't budge, so I opened a ticket with ebay's customer support, they worked quickly and made things right. They actually issued me a refund, let the seller keep his payment, and they told me I could keep the discs. (I was just hoping to send them back and get a refund since they weren't as described...) Overall, worked out pretty well.

I would suggest that if the guy doesn't try to make things right, contact ebay's customer service--they're actually surprisingly helpful.

Rudy, eBay's customer service BLOWS if your a seller.

Ebay has become a "buyers have all the rights" place and it is making it more and more difficult to justify selling there.

That's a big 10-4. Sellers aren't even able to leave anything other than positive feedback to buyers. If you have a problem buyer, there's no way for you now to warn other sellers. I've two non-paying bidders recently, and eBay makes you wait WEEKS before you can open a ticket or anything about it. I get them to refund my listing fees (or relist for free) and end up leaving positive feedback to the buyer but saying they never paid, never responded to emails, etc.

I won a 5.4L Ford V-8 engine on Ebay a couple weeks ago for $2.50.

In Illinois.

Seller won't ship, buyer must pick up.

Doesn't accept PayPal.

So I emailed him, told him to keep the motor, just send me the name and address and I'd send him a money order for the $2.50.

I figured I'd let him out easy, he could re-list the engine and get some actual money for it.

He never answered my email. The auction still shows up that I won it, and haven't paid.

So I was in Illinois yesterday, and I emailed him in the morning... "hey, I'm in Illinois, I've got $2.50 and I'll get that motor out of your way."

He never answered, in fact he hasn't responded to either message.

I'm just going to ignore the whole situation. There was a good reason I stopped ebaying years ago.

You can now start a resolution in as little as 3 days. It doesn't help much the bad buyer gets a "non payer" note that disappears shortly. Not much compared to how it used to be when they stuck with the buyer forever and actually meant something.

Let us know how it end up Ray

eBay pissed me off just yesterday. I listed a jailbroken, carrier unlocked iPhone 4 that I converted to WHITE and listed specifically as a BLACK phone that I converted to WHITE. eBay pulled the ad and suspended my selling status saying that it violates their terms of use. So I corresponded with them via email asking for explanation and they basically told me that my phone was marketed as a white iPhone and that it is against their ethics to allow a white iPhone 4 sell on their site before Apple officially releases one. Yeah. Are you f"n kidding? Do a quick search, both current and completed listings, for "White Apple iPhone 4" and you'll see plenty of them that sold no problem, yet mine gets pulled. What's worse is that any smart person that looks at Apple's history and current status knows that they not only dropped the ball in even saying that they will have a White iPhone 4 available, but blew off its release altogether. 2-3 months from now the iPhone 5 will debut and the iPhone 4 16GB will be the base model iPhone available, and I can guarantee it will only be in BLACK. Ever notice that they don't sell white iPhone 3GS 8 GB models at AT&T? Because it's the base model, no options! Oh well. Looks like I'll be opening up an Amazon account.

Not only that, but the fact that they won't allow the sale of a "custom" iPhone 4 is ridiculous, and the only reason they're doing it is because Apple said they would release a White version, even though they won't. I have sold GOLD iPhone 3GS's, PURPLE 3G's, and an ORANGE 3G with no problem, but heaven forbid I list a WHITE iPhone 4.

If you want to sell WHITE iphones, you need to sell it as a kit of black phone with customizing color kit. Picture of the black phone and upgrade kit and then just ask the buyer if they want the kit installed for free, ship them the old black pieces too. Unlocking the phone might be a questionable activity, but that isn't why they shut you down.

Took just over week and now it is revised to positive with a comment,"I accept the item as is." He learned enough to receive signals with it. I will not leave feedback this time. Real pain to work with. I didn't even mention that I was on vacation next week and traveling 872 miles to vacation in his neighborhood. Maybe try and find a new friend. World is real small sometimes. We picked the place for vacation over 9 months ago.

I've always had surprisingly good luck on eBay although I haven't used it much lately.

I've sold and bought items with little difficulty.

I just recently bought a bulb for our large screen LCD TV. I never realized you could purchase just the bulb. I had always bought the whole "cartridge" which contained the bulb and cost well in excess of $200.

The seller had a video showing how to take the "cartridge" apart, replace and bulb and reassemble. The kit included a plastic glove and the bulb packaged with care as well as printed instructions. The best part was shipping is free and I received it priority mail in two days.

I couldn't be happier.

I have had very good experiences with this exception. I knew things were hinky when I looked at how long he had been on ebay and only had a 1 in the ratings. Indicates to me that people may not be leaving feedback as the seller is only allowed to leave positive feedback. I did everything he asked me to do. And at this point I'm not going to teach him a class on wavelength and antennae.

Ebay has become a "buyers have all the rights" place

Not in my account. I bought a double din touch screen stereo for my sister for Christmas. I didn't realize it was from China, first mistake. I receive the stereo and it's DOA. I allow a replacement to be sent and it's DOA. They tell me I'm installing it wrong. Really? I'm a Broadcast Engineer...car audio I can do with my eyes closed. I send that one back and they state I'll receive my refund once the warehouse get the stereo. Needless to say it's The end of April and I've yet to see my money!

I had a nightmare experience (the only bad one I have ever had) about 6 months ago.

I did not realize that Paypal, when linked to your bank account, had such unfettered access . . . . . well, until I found several thousand dollars gone from my account one day.

It was a VERY interesting experience.

I am really sour on Ebay too. The Fees have gone out of sight as a Seller. Combined the Paypal fees and you are giving up 15%-20% in fees. BS.

Kim and I have been eBaying for years. We mostly sell but purchase often too. We've got all the bling... "Top Rated Seller", "Power Seller" and have been lucky enough to retain 100% feedback rating. It ain't been easy though. There's a lot of "tending the garden" that goes on behind the scenes when we have auctions up. We block foreign buyers, second party buyers or people with low feedback totals or bad feedback. We maintain a separate account and Visa card for our eBay/PayPal business. Most of our success beyond good business practice has been because of Kim's daytime job which includes bank security. With her knowledge we have been able to be proactive. Still there's always the chance for one bad apple to spoil the feedback rating or a scammer that can bypass all the security firewalls and hack our accounts.

In this day and age anything good or bad is possible.
