Ok, I need some help here. I'm trying to remove the drum on a 1990 VW Golf. I can not seem to get it to come off. Does anyone know how to get this thing off?

Open the bleed screw to release brake pressure and then hit the drum on the side a few times to back the pads off. They've probably worn a groove in the drum and are preventing you from sliding it off.

Will give that a run when I'm off next. Thought about bleeding the brakes a bit. The manual talks about removing some pin for the adjuster to release the tension. BS on that one. No way to really get to it.

One other thing. This is a FWD car. It appears the bearings are apart of the drum. Anyone every deal with this. All drums I've dealt with were on RWD vehicles.

Yeah, that would be the bearings. Just wondering if their are pressed into the drum or not. Wondering if that is the case then they are also pressed onto that shaft the comes out or the drum. Wondering if they may be stuck...

It comes off just like the front drum on an old rear wheel drive car. The bearings are not a press fit on the spindle, but sometimes they can a bit and get stuck.

Well, I think it ate the outer bearing as it doesn't appear level. Had to use it for a short run and well.... Sigh...
