Sat part 5: The ride big to Copperhead.

I had to stop by and get some fresh Butt Squeezens

Then the uly blew out its primary adjuster. Too late to get parts for repairs so we would wait to the morn.

Thanks for the pick-me-up follow up pics...

I do believe we should be planning some serious shindigs there at Copperhead, based on Vern's testimony and youns'...

I've been wondering- other than the BW, did any N GA media cover the closing of TWO? Dalhonega? Helen? Blairsville?

Did any MC media cover it? Somewhere I still have my MCN issue that has the full review and recommendations for TWO...

For the money, they are the best tire going. I'd put them up against any single compound tire out there.

No slippage. Quick warm up. Good wet traction.

Jeremy and/or Matt- Did Copperhead get their license to sell adult beverages? When we were there last October they said they hoped to get one shortly.

Any clues on what caused Barker's primary adjuster to strip the threads like that? I take it from the description he was riding along, the threads stripped and the shoe dropped to the bottom of the primary case?

I hope Copperhead have their liquor license. They were sling adult beverages hand over fist and barker and I enjoyed several.

I believe they are even going to have a stocked humidor.

We are unclear as to the cause. It appears that there was a previous repair to the case that came undone. There was a very neat coil of metal in the threads of the adjuster as well as some threads left in the case. It didn't appear to be a Helicoil or a Timecert.

Barker can supply his impressions, but I believe the PO held the adjuster bolt and tightened the jam nut until the bolt literally ripped the threads out of the case. The repair was made, and when Barker jumped the speed bump at Copperhead the primary slapped against the adjuster and pushed out the previous repair.

The Helicoil seems MUCH stronger!

As of our stay Copperhead can't use those taps, but they can pour liquor and sell brew by the bottle.

Speaking of copperhead beverages, I had a few and came up with a hypothesis on how the primary adjuster blew out the bottom of the bike.

Somewhere in or around Fletcher, NC I must have picked a small Appalachian Mogwai. (a rare sentient being that is furry, cute, and very curious)

This little booger must have been crawled in my Buell Murse (Official East Troy man purse) to spend the night as we camped out in the Fairfield Inn by Marriott.

In my man purse he must have gotten into my snacks sometime after midnight.

After eating my Zero bar the Mogwai underwent a metamorphosis to become a ferocious, ammonia-based reptilian lifeform called a gremlin.

Since gremlins don't like bright sunlight he must have opened up the clutch inspection cover and crawled in to the warm darkness of the Uly primary.

While inside the Primary he must have found a large hammer.

Using the hammer the gremlin gave a brisk and powerful strike to the primary adjuster shoe the Gremlin pushed the adjuster bolt thru the cover effectively stripping out all of the treads in the cover.

I'm not sure what else could have done it.

Sunday part 1

The uly had a good night's sleep.

56

I only had to go to 2 different parts stores to find the helicoil kit.

54

58

59

Copperhead let me barrow a drill to drill out the hole.

60

Tap'n it.

61

Inserting the Helicoil.

63

64

Better than new. Notice how much metal that large threaded 1/2 bolt had to push through!

65

It is really hard to install a primary cover onto the clutch cable.

Maybe a Tennessee fainting goat fell up against your bike and broke the adjuster.

Last photo run.

Sunday after the repair.

What is the best way to test a recent repair? Go beat on it like it owes you money on some of your favorite roads.
