Who knows, maybe this is the motor he is looking at when talking about the future and a possible dirtbike I like it. I want one. |

Specs, I know the specs on it. 50+hp, great torque curve, lasts 5-10 times longer than a CRF450F on a hard dyno-based durability test, is a couple of kgs heavy, you'd probably have to do a really (!) light chassis for it. :-) Cylinder head is basically an Aprilia Twin head with full down-draft intake -- you'd probably want to put an airbox where a fuel tank normally is. Needs a lighter, skinnier alternator for MX, but I know an Italian electronics company who already has such a thing tooled, and, why, just for this motor. Strange that should happen. The enduro version would want a six-speed, which also just happens to fit. Electric start only, so you don't have the weight of the kick-starter lever or gears or bearings, and a battery could probably weigh 14 ozs. if it used the right lithium-ion cells, so you get the electric start with no weight penalty. What else do you want to know? |

You are breaking my heart Anony! For those that don't know, a CRF-450X is no end of fun to ride, but the manual recommends a top end rebuilds after every 10 hours of use (no joke). It's insane. |

Anonymous would you take a guess as to the weight this motor and associated tranny would weigh? My welding and fab gears are turning... I'm thinking old dirt bike with bad motor...chop off the old mounting points order me one of those 450 with tranny crate motor..... and you could guess the rest I'm sure! |

Wonder what the bore and stroke are? How much it weighs? Type of crankshaft...physical dimensions... I'm thinking fairings and sticky tires here...a well done sport single is very appealing to me....a naked streetfighter would be nice..... Honda has the CBR250r coming this spring...missed the mark by 200 or so cc's and a couple of suspension adjusters...otherwise there would be my name on a crate right now... Maybe next year....maybe I can get one with a snarling Pegasus on it |

Hey . . . I've just seen a bike that fits that description perfectly. I have a GREAT . . . I mean "Ultra-Classic" (is that term copyrighted?) story about it . . . . . . Remind me to tell you! |

Anon, that all sounds awesome but I would personally pay the few pound penalty for backup kicker. Lightweight enduro battery/estart setups have a way of crapping out in certain conditions. Like sub-30 temps for one. I wouldn't consider any serious enduro that didn't have a kicker. I would love to see that 450 in something new, cutting edge. Enduro/DS, Sumo, thumper-street fighter versions come to mind... |

It would be good to have a set of 17's & a bigger front brake as an option on the imaginary bike. |

Is direct injection ready yet? I'm still hoping for a fuel efficient two stroke. |

The "proof of concept" bikes are sitting ... where? I'm thinking someone has a little bit of a head start with regards to playing in the dirt. The future looks so far away, yet right here in our faces. I can't wait to see what happens, there was a lot of work done the Griffin. It doesn't have to go to waste does it? Time will tell... |

Lights, plate, dirt : ACTION this would get me off of zuki, and maybe out of the Ural purchase...... street legal DS and I am IN. There is a 48 mile 'loop' off pavement from my house to my clients front door.... of course you could drive the ten minutes on the free-way; but if this were at hand, why would you ever want to 'Just go RIDE the Bike!' ( I wonder if I could trade in a tarded up DR350?....) |
