You Go Girl! Good Luck, things will be good for you, why bother with living in only a couple of months of riding season if you don't have to? |

What the hell, girl? So sorry to hear it- if I can help/advise, feel free to get in touch. Post a sketch of your resume/jobs you'd do/prefer to do... And, good luck... |

Sorry Char. I see by profile info you are a scientist. Check out the DC/Virginia/Maryland area www.usajobs.gov cost of living is high, so are the salaries plus the riding season has got to beat Wisconsin. it's not all a concrete jungle here - i'm 20 minutes outside of DC and it's very green here - deer in the front yard in the fall, etc. reminds me a lot of my native Upstate New York (Message edited by midnightrider on December 07, 2010) |

>>>... finally had a job I really loved.. Be mindful that you went through this a while back and ended up in a far better situation than you'd even dreamed of. You've got the stuff girl . . I suspect the next one will be better. You've got a built in support group here and I'd be happy to lend a hand in anyway I can. Focus and stay positive. Court |

I'm sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation. Out of curiosity, what branch of science do you affiliate with? |

Dang Char, I saw your post on FB, too. Definitely head South, even if you get laid off the winters are survivable if you are homeless. I'm picturing Carol Burnett on a park bench... Sucks, just knowing once again the rug can be yanked out from underneath you. I've had it happen too many times myself. And I know you really liked this job, too. You have friends here on the BadWeb pulling for you. |

You have too strong a character to let this stop you. You'll land on your feet, and in the right spot. Gotta free place to stay if you are ever, or want to spend some time in Northern Arkansas. Be well, God bless. |

Bummer, Char. Doubt there's much I can do, but if there is just holler. BTW, lots of jobs in Geneva (Switzerland) & the roads are terrific. How's your French? |

ALL jobs are temporary. All jobs change, eventually. Some of the best jobs I ever had became nightmares after a while, and some jobs sucked at the beginning, but became good after I'd been there a bit. Life is change. some of the best things in my life are the direct result of some really crappy things that have happened to me. The turmoil you're going through right now will pass and you'll be stronger for it. |

Eight years in environmental science... geology... water quality... hazardous waste management... Ran programs for Native American tribes with federal contracts... wrote laws for sovereign nations with authority to regulate their resources... Now doing Army/ munitions related cleanup... what a craptastic day... I get to go to work for five more workdays... I wanna go back to bed... |

I tell you one thing with that usajobs thing I now know why we are in so much trouble that system sucks . There is no more personal expierience for both the employee and hirer and in that way you never know what you get and if either one doesn't like it !!!! Well you have just wasted considerable resources figuring that out . Char move to Canada we are DOOMED!!!!! Good luck in sincerity |

Richmond Ky. has a huge chemical gas storage facility that they're beginning to clean up. Which is what they said 15 years ago when I lived there too, but...If you have any interest I have a friend that works for the DOD there and can ask questions. Also the University of Kentucky has a hand in a large research facility in Lex. called Coldstream. I have some friends and past co-workers working there as well. Badweb found me a dog, surely it can find you a job |

Thanks for posting your quali's... +1 on the DOD stuff, although you've probably been through that before- I've got a friend who works with a high security clearance for Oak Ridge, doing enviro evals and such, sounds like your cup o' tea... The biggest + so far that I've seen is your urge to bail out of the icebox and head South- it really doesn't get much better than TN and most all of Appalachia. Coasting for a bit on unemployment and living simple can help re-set your sensibilities too. Keep us posted, and keep your chin up!! |

Ha... Glitch, remind me to tell you the story of the Flatliners climbing Linville Gorge... that was one crazy trip... ended up roped in with my muscles failing on the top end of the gorge and it getting dark... good times... I wanna follow up with ya both on Kentucky and Oak Ridge... we actually have an office down in Oak Ridge... I will figure it out... right now I am in my office with the door closed so people are gonna start asking questions... Oh well... head is up... looking forward... Got nothing to lose heading south now... |
