I much prefer the Cross Roads and the Road King. The fairings on all of them give me lots of noise and buffeting. | ||

I find the Stratoliner pretty darn ugly. I typically don't like the look of baggers anyway, but I better appreciate the lines of Cross Country. | ||

I thought it was kinda funny when they were taking about how the handling of each of them compared "in the twisties". They're all pigs when it comes to spirited riding. Sure one may be a little less of a pig than another, but their all still pigs. As DD alluded to, they should have focused more on straight line ride and the buffeting and wind noise side. I can say though that the 113ci in the Strat is a really really strong motor, tons of torque right from idle all the way to redline | ||

I can never figure out what HD is doing to their motors. My '02 Road King 95 inch makes 99 ft-lb and 90 hp at the rear wheel and I turned every bolt myself. Parts cost was much less than $1500. I didn't have to meet any emissions, of course, but come on....66 hp out of a 103 in mill. That's just plain ridiculous. | ||

Hm. Noise restrictions for cam profiles and exhaust. Emissions restrictions for EFI and cams and compression. Heat concerns (you think us Uly guys bitch about heat?!?!?) limit displacement and compression. Corporate motors are compromises. All over the place. Ditto on easy upgrades though. My 80" Evo (built it myself) was 90/90 at the wheel. Upped compression, forged slugs. Ported big-valve heads. Cam upgrade. Beehive springs. Singlefire ignition and coil. Stock headpipe with slipons. Rode it that way - with a vengeance! - for over 40k miles. Still handled like a pig though. Got the Uly, sold the FLHP - tired of buying floorboards every season! | ||

Hey, Scooter! Do you mind sharing what you did to your RK? Mine is a 2002 and it is slow. I like the bike and don't mind it being slow but if I could get that for $1500? I can turn wrenches! |
