It was us, they send off about 4-6 missiles there a year doing various tests. I believe the reason nobody "knows" about it is that it may be classified for various reasons.
Either a Navy slip up, or maybe the USC band. Or some Stanford engineering students. Or Burt (Rutan) and Richie (Branson) have us all bamboozled.
Maybe soon2be Guv MoonBeam on his way to his post-election party. Or strategy session.
C,NK,orR???
Other possibility is using a rocket as a launch vehicle for the advanced scramjet they've been running. They used to get 'em goin' fast enough to light off the backs of SR-71s, but now they have to missile launch them, Sometimes from B-52's, sometimes from I dunnno.
But ours, for sure.
This is all totally a guess on my part, and makes no claims of actually knowing anything factual.
If it happens all the time, why is everyone all wigged out about it.
It dosen't happen all the time, but several times a year. You can even go to the military bases and watch the launches on the bleachers they have setup. As for why its being a big deal all the sudden, someone caught it on video and made a big deal out of it.
It dosen't surprise me about Fox News if you are being serious, as I did a lot of reading about it this morning on a liberal site.
No I was not involved. By "us" in my last post I should of said the "USA". North Korea/Russia/Whatevercommieland wouldn't be stupid enough to launch an ICBM a few miles off our coast. The missile was way to big to be launched from a submarine, so it would need to be launched from land, like San Nicolas island, which happens to have a missile base.
Also, here is this from NOTAM
quote:

Froggy do you have a Sectional for that area? I want to see where the test ranges area and the military operation areas listed are in relation to the sighting I have been to the bombing ranges in ND during Bomb Comps its Impressive
Again, if it happens all the time, isn't there SOMEONE who would step up and declare such?
The military test section is north of where this missile was launched.
"Nobody within the Department of Defense that we've reached out to has been able to explain what this contrail is, where it came from," Pentagon spokesman Col. Dave Lapan said.
Lapan said that "all indications" are that the Department of Defense was not involved within the mystery object, and that the contrail might have been created by something flown by a private company. Normally any missile test would require notification so that mariners and pilots could be warned or air space closed, but that may not have been done in this case, Lapan said."
I can't imagine that the military all the way up the chain of command has no record if this is one of their missiles test launched (without published civilian notification).
SPAWAR is right there, we used to light of 3-4 a year as 'red cell' test. We had clearance, but NORAD DIDNT have advance warning; because that would defeat the point of the test.
The Russians havent had a capable Sub Launched ICBM since the 90's, though they do have some nasty sublaunched anti ship missiles that will make a carrier have a very bad day.

Maybe it was the release of some type of pressure build-up. They did just crank the porn industry back up after it having been shut down for a few weeks because of an AIDS scare.

This hasn't even made the news outside of the US, so i think if it was an impending pre-emptive strike by Russia/Korea/China/Belgium it may have leaked onto the BBC at least (although Sky News may still have missed it!)
