Inspired by our trip to the U.S. and Tales of A Magpie, I'm having a stab at doing a weekly blog - my rambling thoughts on travel, motorcycles, food, and of course, music : D It's a bit of fun, I get to talk about random stuff, and hopefully it will generate a bit of interest in, and more fans/friends for, my band The Lemonchili Project.

I did a bit of an intro last week, and have posted the first "episode" this week called "Do you fly the flag?"

You can read it here:
Chili's Blog on Facebook
or here
Chili's Blog on Myspace

Any thoughts or comments appreciated : )
cheers,
chili : )

Cool story... I often wonder if other countries fly there flag as much as we do ours.

But in contrast here in Killeen Texas which is a military town with a lot of people from all different nationalities you will see them display their home countries flag all over there cars and cloths which confuses me since they are all members of the United States army but your not proud of that country you are more proud of a country you and your family moved out of.

Chili, how can I add your blog to my Facebook page? I logged on but didn't find where I can add it to view weekly.

I have always wondered that as well, i see that all the time. We live on Oahu in Schofield Barracks, maybe its a military thing. I could understand a State flag, as I'm still proud to be from Wisconsin. and on a side note i refused to put a Hawaii license plate on my bike due to the fact that i don't think my 12R would have looked right with a rainbow on it.

I have the stars and bars out on the pole, and since Obama took office, I have been flying the 'Dont Tread on Me' snake flag as well.

And when I move to the new place, the will be flown off the balcony as well.

I had a flag on the roof, but due to a bad roof I couldn't keep going up there to take it up and down. My sons in the Air Force and won't let me just leave it up (he's right). But after reading the flag code I realized if I get an all weather flag, and shine a light on it I can leave it up all the time! So when he comes home that's one of our projects

"whoa, i thought maybe this is the flag you were flying when i read the title..."
Hey, I'm an open minded guy, and each to their own, but that's not my kinda flag! ; )

Thanks for reading folks! If I lived in the US I'd fly an Australian flag to illustrate my heritage, but I imagine I'd fly it alongside the flag of my new home.

"Chili, how can I add your blog to my Facebook page? I logged on but didn't find where I can add it to view weekly."
Don, I think the only way to subscribe to a facebook note is through an RSS feed.
For the moment I'll be keeping it on facebook/myspace and sending out notifications that a new blog is up. If you "like" the band it should come up in your facebook news when I post a new one.

"...the flag code I realized if I get an all weather flag, and shine a light on it I can leave it up all the time!"
Cool! I was wondering about that, knowing that I'd be forgetful (and/or lazy) and forget to take it down each night.

All my family is south of the Mason Dixon line out in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas...
I flew the Confederate flag all through college. And from what I hear the family is ramping up its paranoia against a new wave of northern revenuers. (Great Grand Pa, and g-pa both ran shine)

We've been flying the flag outside since 9/11.
I'm on my 3rd flag, just replaced it a week ago.
We did it as a sign of solidarity and unity as a nation after the terrorist attack.
It stayed up as a nod to my son's entrance into the navy. His 6 year hitch was up last year, the flag remains.
It will continue to be a fixture on the front of our house until we move or the house falls down.

"It will continue to be a fixture on the front of our house until we move or the house falls down. "
That is very cool and is exactly the sort of pride I noticed during our vacation. Nice : ) While we have incredible pride in our troops, and our countries achievements (especially sport!), we don't seem to have the same pride in our "nation" IMHO.

"I love it!

Hehehe, really glad you like it Lots of people are getting a kick out of it on facebook which is really cool too.
I might have to do another one for the rest of the trip...

Ourdee.. You really need reading glasses!

LemonChili!
I know it is a lot of work to put these things together in MovieMaker. For the audience, it's a lot of fun. For you, tons of work.

When you find time, installment II, that is.

Oh... and yeah.. don't forget the Chili-music!

Installment II... Gimme a couple of months... and what tune will I use? Might have to come up with something new.

I've posted the vid in it's own thread, I hope it'll give folks a smile : D

As we rode up to Newfoundland I noticed the Canadians were proud of their flag too.

It was kind of funny at one stop in New Brunswick a young Canadian boy asked his dad what province was Iowa (right below my American flag sticker).
