>>> Blake, gov't employees have their own pension fund. They can't draw SocSec if they didn't pay into it.

Exactly and a right nice pension it is. I'd like that option, but am unable to take it. Why? I'd MUCH rather put the 15% into my own retirement fund, but am prohibited from doing so. I am forced to hand over my hard earned income to the federal govt under threat of fine and imprisonment so that they, THE most corrupt and inefficient organization know to man, are able to have their way with it. They've been stealing it for other social programs and paying a ludicrously low rate of return.

If they were a banker, they'd be out of business. But they can force us all to hand over our hard earned income, so they are still in business. Outrageous.

If everyone were forced to pay the full 15%, I suspect the outrage would be palpable. The devious slime in Washington were smart, they made it a mandatory deduction from paychecks, and made the employer pay half of it. Really devious conniving stuff.

"THE most corrupt and inefficient organization know to man"
man I hope you're talking about Government in general, and not the United States Government. Compared to some others in the world right now, ours is pretty transparent.

Transparently corrupt is still corrupt. When you factor the amount of revenue into the equation, and the subversion of our law, the constitution, there is no comparison. It is despicable and insidiously ingrained into our gov't.

What's funny to me is that Social Security is basically a ponzi scheme. Retirees are being paid now by the contributions of wage earners right now. Didn't someone just get arrested for that?

Blake,

EVERYBODY pays 15% into Social Security except that it is hidden from people drawing a paycheck. The employer pays 7.5% and the employee pays 7.5%. Workers would tend to make higher wages if it wasn't for the 7.5% extorted from the employer.

Read Atlas Shrugged.

>>>> ours is pretty transparent.

And getting more transparent as each Obama appointee throws in the towel in disgust . . .as each Senior Attorney at the Dept of Justice answers a subpoena and with each "saved job" at Chrysler smokes another joint.

It's a funny kinda of transparent.

Basic health insurance can be had quite cheaply. If you can afford to skydive, ride motorcycles, smoke cigarettes, etc., then you can afford $25 to $150 a month.

ON what planet, I left a corperate job about 6 years ago, nice ride good ins, after my severance package ran out I had to fend for my self, hmo/Network type care
850$ month I was 47 at the time, in good health except for Sleep apnea ( which I use a machine for, ) and a bit over weight.

basic catastrophic injury Illness coverage
277 per month, I pay for my own check ups etc. part of why health care is soo expensive is because of the insurance that doctors and practices need to carry and its costs, solve that problem and things get better, the straps that hold my mask on are about the equal of the elastic in your bloomers, 40$ why, insurance..
why insurance, lawyers,

perhaps if the doctors / hospitals could counter sue the plaintifs and attourneys when the suits are egregious in nature,
cut out the quick buck suits amazing how fast things might calm down. office visit costing 25$ not 125$

}

Even if the letter is fake, you know it happens somewhere!!

Complete crap if you ask me!

Throw a pawn shop across the street and make em sell those gold teeth, jewelry, air jordans, phones, etc... To pay for there medical bills!

I work for a local government. I never knew our retirement was a pension plan until a couple weeks ago. I assumed it was just another version of a 401K type plan.

We HAVE to participate and pay 7%. No questions, if you work for the city, you are enrolled and only way to get out is quit your job. We Put in 7% they add 14% and I've been told ( but not sure on sources creditability ) they guarantee 6% return.

Best retirement plan I know of. Although, the police and fire guys have a different retirement altogether.

Although, just looked over pay stubs... I pay social security too.

Does a true pension plan not require social security to be paid??

I'm confused on that matter.

Guess you need to learn how to shop around... You're paying more than an entire family of four in California.

I just now priced out a Blue Shield PPO plan for a family of FIVE. $580 per month, prescriptions at $10.

Seriously, you're getting hosed if you're paying 800+ per month by yourself.

Same plan for just me would be $145 per month. PPO. Go to any doctor I want without prior referral.

Most people don't realize that their employer is "contributing" to the employee's social security. It robs from the employee, contributes to a higher unemployment rate, and fills the government's coffer for continued theft of what it was never intended for.

I am convinced that some Liberals/Progressives will come to the Light of Conservatism as they begin to understand how this government steals from the people through threat of force and violence. It is time to return to the US Constitution.
