Well since we are talking about it... I have to put the tops on all of my pens where the writing lines up with the clip to hold it in your pocket. I also have to eat only one item at a time at dinner... and none of the items can touch. |

Swedish fish: I always save all the green ones for last, then I eat them very very very slowly.... oh soooo good... If I have an itch, I scratch it. Then, I scratch the exact opposite location on my body. I have a real problem if the itch is right in the middle somewhere. If I have a rough edge on my fingernail or toenail, I have to trim all 20. Every link on my chain is cleaned three times, lubricated three times. If I get a something in my left eye, I poke myself in the right eye. I can't ride with only one headlight on. You get the idea, everything has to be symmetrical. |

Never allow the garden/water hose to cross itself. I prefer prime numbers and the number 48. Prime numbers are uniquely indivisible; 48 is widely divisible (2,3,4,6,12,16,24). When I say the Lord's prayer, I pause and state God's name after "Hallowed be thy name."

OMG Wolf!!! I thought it must have been me! You are right...orange ones last?? Bingo on the even numbers of volume...or just about anything. Adjusting shades/colours on photo editing is a big one too? |

I can't go out without my watch or a hat. I get totally enraged when I find the wrong CD in the box. I also shout at people who drive like idiots, but I'm a truck driver so that's normal behaviour. |

Grumpy you just reminded me of my CD pet peeve. Opening a new cd (doesn't happen much any more.) all the plastic and stickers have to come off the case, even if it means getting goof off for the residue. Then once I put the cd / Album in I have to listen to the whole thing in one shop in its entirety before I can listen to any song twice. |

Gas caps, i wasn't aware that they could go any other way than for me to be able to read BUELL. BUELL Key must be pegasus upright. eating, 1 item at a time, although i don't mind if they touch. that's all i can think of now. |

I feel so normal now!!! I am getting better though... I can actually leave a public restroom with paper towels all over the floor if I have not put them there... Most times I just let the phone go to voicemail (used to always scramble to pick it up), even if it is someone calling that I know, gotta love caller ID... I don't know if this is OCD or not, but, I hate clutter and owning "too many" things... every two to three months I have to go through everything I own and get rid of some things... might be why having two Buells just seems unneccessary and wasteful. I have to have all my files and papers on my desk organized in folders or lined up piles before I leave work at the end of the day... |

A lot of my OC stuff is a result of Basic Training. But some of it is me. For a few years after BMT, I instinctively got in-step with whoever I was walking with. I still unknowingly try to carry everything in my left hand. (Right hand is needed to salute) I still fold my t-shirts and towels the same as I had to in BMT. My morning routine is exactly the same or I forget something. My keys, hat, glasses, pocket items, etc have to be left in their special spot or I lose them. I can't stand anything oily or greasy on my hands. I have to wipe it off immediately. Even in between bites of 'finger foods'. I eat fries two at a time. Not one, not three....two. I can't listen to the same CD through twice in a row. My wife can, and it drives me crazy. We've compromised with the 'first song again' exception while a new CD is chosen. There are a lot more things that aren't really all that odd. But I know that I do them. But I feel better knowing I'm not the only weirdo out there. |

I used to do allot of these things. But one day I started to realize I was heading down a path of no return! So now I purposely do stuff unevenly and different every time so I don't become fixated on any one habit. However trying not to do things the same way or with the same hand or in two's has become it's own OCD so I'm just as sick as the rest of you! It just shows less |

I have a lot of the gas cap,key up/down issues but the one that drives my wife crazy is how I MUST check and re-check the location of my important stuff (cell phone and wallet etc.)is secure zippers zipped , I actually have the stuff etc. But I have never lost the stuff... Ask her where her phone/wallet etc is at?? Currently somewhere between Tellico and Ringgold |

Back in my day, before driving my race car I had several things that I did in a special order, and I was anal about it. We called it a ritual. In a habitual way I had to lay out every event of my race day so that nothing was missed and nothing was out of place or un-checked. Every move had purpose all aimed at total focus at race time where it was too late to question if anything had been forgotten. I found early on that you cannot have 100 percent focus on racing if you are questioning if everything had been done or if you were noticing something that had been missed. You cannot be out there running 80 mph sideways in traffic wondering if your lug nuts are loose, the air pressure is wrong, your gas tank is empty, the oil or water is low, or even if you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of a race. It starts with a check list that turns into good necessary habits, then becomes ritual, and turns into OCD if you carry it into your home life. |

Etennuly, Thats not OC. I've done that too. There's nothing like getting the car set up perfectly for the track conditions and knowing you're fast enough to win. Then it all goes to crap when the car is on the track and you remember that you didn't fuel it up after the heat race. And eating two french fries at a time won't help put more gas in the car. I guess what I'm saying is that there are OC things and then there is good preparation. |

Just curious. When eating things by twos or threes, when you get to the end and have the wrong number left, do you just toss out the extras? About the only affliction I seem to have is symmetrical scratching. |

No, when there is just the little crispy fries left, you just eat them all in order from best to worst, appearance-wise. |

Professional jockies have a 'handler' that does EVERYTHING including laying out the outfit they are going to wear... I have seen it on 'Undercover Boss'... |

I always feel my left pocket to make sure I haven't accidentally misplaced my wallet. The OCD part: I might do this 3 or 4 times in 5 minutes. Even if I KNOW it's there (because I confirmed not 30 seconds ago), I have an overwhelming urge to check again. No idea where it comes from. I've only lost a wallet once in my life, and it really wasn't a big deal (didn't have much to lose at the time). ~SM |

cap on the toothpaste. Toilet seat down(I have girls in the house now) New roll on the roller. Doing the Frank(checking the engine on the pontoon boat multiple times while going through the shallows only for the benefit of the new father-in-law) making sure the tools go back in the right place when done. Channeling sexual energy into the hot italian girlfriend. |

I guess the one that causes me the most stress is I have to be really early for everything. If I am not a minimum of 15 minutes earlier than the "usual" necessary departure time leaving my house, I get REALLY anxious and usually grumpy. |

Wow, you guys have issues. I have had to train myself to be organized and neat. I am a naturally messy person. My job is very detail oriented, however, and I am former military. So, outside influences have forced me to be more organized. Plus, my lack of organization has caused me difficulty throughout my life (like never being able to find my keys), so now I have tried to designate specific places for everything and be sure I put them there. I have gone back to check on the garage door, but that is because my mind is on so many things, I can never remember closing it. It seems to me, from reading this thread, that there are things people do to be organized, which I wouldn't call OCD, and there are things people do that have nothing to do with being organized, but that some are compulsive about. Bottom line, if it doesn't negatively impact your life, I don't see any problem. If, on the other hand, it impacts your ability to function, maybe you should work on changing. |

I'm RCD. I go out of my way to randomly do things. The route I drive to work, how my food is arranged on my plate, the order I get dressed etc. I think I do this because my wife is majorly OCD. She arranges her clothes in her closet in rainbow order- reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues/indigo, violets-yes left to right. All of her clothing has to match from socks to undies to outer garments to the color of the pen she carries and writes with. Her credit cards are in alphabetical order. Her money is arranged 1s, 5s, 10s, 20s and each is in sequential order with the lowest serial number first. All of our DVDs are arranged in alphabetical order as is about everything else that can be arranged by title. There is a lot more, but I think you get the idea... About the only thing I do first all the time is eat the french fries first, just because they get cold first. Not really OCD. |

I've got one for you Mr. Grumpy. I once bought a GNR double disc CD and the info./songs were copied opposite of what they should have been. Disc 1 had disc 1 info. but played disc 2 songs and vice versa. How about that? Sorry, that's all I got. I used to be a neat freak but then I had kids. But it never got OCDish. |

Money is always in order and facing the same way, faceside showing and upright...(not that I ever have any!!) TP over, not under. Towels always folded the same way. Will re-fold if not the way I fold them. I'm sure there are others, but those are the first few that come to mind. Glad to see I'm not the only one with these compulsive issues! |

I have the money in the right orientation and order affliction too, but it's more being organized than OCD I think. Where's Henrik? |
