Still, I hope HD has brains enough to realize that licensing those patents to Erik Buell Racing is is in their best interests. They need all the cash they can muster. I think the fewer parts Erik Buell Racing has to re-engineer the better.

I truly hope Erik Buell Racing can stay ahead of the copycats.Aren't they copying his stuff from 1987?

In 75 or 76 I built a both wheel steering bike and my first recumbent.
I made a front wheel drive recumbent with dual steering in 1981. It has a 10" turning radius. It hangs from the rafters in my garage. It's true purpose is for breaking a world record. I've just never welded up the mid-frame part. I'm certain Erik has sketches from 15 to 20 years ago that would give you some OMG moments.

Can I have an option to buy a Buell 1190RS as a kit bike? I would like to pay less for it and assemble it myself (with the proper assembly manuals). Now that would be COOL!

The frame of a true 1190 bike is not the same as the 1125....there are FAR more differences than just the powerplant.

I'd but prices will be in the $25,000 neighborhood.

The race bike is around 50k , isn't it? Why would the street version be half that price?

The DSB 1125R was nearly double the cost of a street model. Street bikes don't need carbon bodywork, titanium this, titanium that, magnesium wheels, etc.

as much as I like hearing about Erik coming out with a new motorcycle for sale, in this economy, pricing is everything! Buell motorcycles weren't just flying off the showroom floors until they closed the company and had the fire sale pricing. I certainly know that I won't be able to afford any new motorcycle for quite sometime with my income as it is.

+1

Race parts are expensive, made of exotic materials and in many cases very manufacturing intensive to achieve things like the super light weight or perfect balance. A street bike doesn't need all of that, including the adjustable rake and wheelbase features of an 1190RR race bike.

I'm making a plan to bring all of my bills current -- 2009 pay cuts were VERY hard on the family -- and then continue paying them off.

When everything is paid off, I'll start using the same plan for a down payment/purchase price of a bike. I figure about five years and I'll be ready to add a sibling to the Blast.

By that time, Erik should have some footing.
I'm in life for the long haul and finally have a plan. I'm sure he does, too.

This would be an excellent opportunity for Bombardier to flip the bird to H-D(spit)

Invest in Erik Buell Racing with the money H-D(spit) gave them to buy out the contracts for Rotax.

The rest would be history

What a hoot that would be!

May seems like a great rider and a good personality match to the Buell niche. I can't wait to see what the future holds. It's always darkest and coldest before the sun rises, I can faintly feel the warmth and see the glow of a new era approaching. This is exciting!

Hey Froggy...I thought the last Buell kit bike took less than 40 SECONDS to assemble:

Remove key from envelope.

Insert in ignition switch.

Turn.

: )

I cant see Erik, as joking around about a bike he never intends to come out with.
Badlion-check out the link posted by 07xb12ss-Geoff himself talks about getting an 1190 bike homologated for competition!
