The Ground Zero Mosque Imam is going to be on CNN tonight. On Larry King live although Soledad O'Brien is filling in. Don't miss it!

Figured I'd better double post this info here. This seems to be the latest Mosque Hysteria thread.

Here's what I get from the christian/muslim argument:

Jesus loves me.
Allah wants me dead.

Here's something else interesting: The spell checker here thinks that muslim should be capitalized but not christian. What's up with that?

Sorry if I repeated anything already said.

I agree with 2008xb the book burning is stupid and in poor taste as well as the victory muslim center. Its interesting though the corner it puts libs in who champion freedom of speech and expression and also drums up hate from radical islam. Its making some masks come off. Still foolish though.

That's inaccurate.

Perhaps on the FIRST piece of property. The one that he SAID he owned and does not (another HUGE issue he has for filing fraudulent documents with the neighborhood board) is owned by the company I work for.

The same lessee has occupied the building for years and has a LEGAL RIGHT, written into their lease, to buy the property.

We've been getting many phone calls and folks urging us to simply not sell it. We've no dog in this fight and don't want want. We will abide by the legal terms in the lease.

This whole thing has really got me more upset thaen I thought. As an American I want everyone to have religious freedom but. After allot of debating with myself and finding some information that has been posted like purchasing price and how this whole set up went down I came to this conclusion.
We The United States not just Christians have been at war since 9/11/2001. I don't care what other people say I saw that whole thing I lost friends there as many many many of Americans did hear and in other places around our nation. A country did not wage War on us a Religion did. So while we can not wage war on the religion as there are certainly parts of the religion that are peaceful and law abiding, we can wage a war of sensibility if you will. This is a war of emotions for sure and Emotions are simply to high to allow the biulding of any Islamic establishment on Hallowed Ground. I would even go so far as to outlaw any Mosque on the Island of Manhattan in Alexandria Virginia and in the area of PA where the plane crashed. I would do this for several reasons
This country was built on great principals and they are not necessarily Christian a few forum members know what I mean aye Hiram? I believe these principals are fair and just and I interpret them this way:
1.) We have had war declared upon us and been attacked by members of Islam. They proclaimed this.
2.) let the building of a religious institution be an act of Love and not deceit as would be the case with present facts. IE purchase price and backdoor deals
3.) Let the Islamic faith hold out the olive branch this time. The attacks were made buy Islamic extremists and as they have no country the whole religion bares the brunt. Not politicaly correct but Fair and Just

There were Muslims in the towers as well I do not blame all Muslims for the attacks in any way shape or form. And this poor mans death is even more reason to want peace. But Muslims did do it and they did declare it while doing it there is no country within extremists and the Islamic states have been unable to keep these radicals in check so fair and just is not allowing the Muslims to build there at a minimum.

The mosque near the Twin Towers memorial is no more necessary than is burning qu'rans in Gainesville. Yet, as observers, we are caught up in both. Both circumstances reflect selfish intensions. With over 100 mosques in NY, and resistance from across the country, what's the point of building it so close? Aside from serving a pastor's issues, what's the point of burning islamic texts?

To answer my own questions: We are voyeurs to an evolving "arch of transcendence," a global p*ss*ing contest. Who can wee wee the farthest?

Pastor Terry Jones should consider doing something more provocative than burning Korans.

He should consider building a Hooters Restaurant franchise in Mecca.

They should serve Sacred Cow Cheeseburgers and Blood of Jesus wine shooters.

Yeah, that is what he should do.

Seriously, the only reason he is doing this is that his parish has 30 broke people, and he is bankrupt.

After watching that emanny speak on larry king last night, AND watching Anderson Pooper, and the 3 panelists debate,... I stand behind the woman and all the other family members who lost loved ones on 9/11 and more than 70% of the American people.

The loss of life is written, can not be erased, undone or removed. It is embedded in our minds and can not be removed. It is written in stone. All of the loving people of religion in the world can not change that. However, this proposed building, is only written on paper. It can be moved almost anywhere.

Books used to be rare, hand written things. Burning them meant there was a really good possibility that no one would ever read those words again. There are about 3 billion (I'm guessing) copies of the Koran floating around. What the heck does burning a few of them accomplish? This guy is a moron.

I only saw snippets of the interview. Who the hell does this tinhorn imam think we are with his extortion? To paraphrase: "We have to build the Mosque at Ground Zero or there will be violent reaction in the muslim world." America is supposed to give in to extortion and threats? Hell, no.

So why would "the muslim world" be up in arms? Obama just paid this to traipse around the muslim world ginning up support. Obama needs to immediately resign due to incompetence or treason.

This huckster who calls himself an imam must be exposed for the fraud he has perpetrated. He is nothing but a terrorist in an Armani suit. He refuses to denounce Hamas.

This mosque NEVER goes up.

There is a long standing tradition and history of extortion in Islamic culture.

The folks here never cease to impress:

>>> He should consider building a Hooters Restaurant franchise in Mecca.

I like that Jim! Then also put a Baptist mission er "community center" across the street. Heck yeah!

>>>The loss of life is written, can not be erased, undone or removed. It is embedded in our minds and can not be removed. It is written in stone. All of the loving people of religion in the world can not change that. However, this proposed building, is only written on paper. It can be moved almost anywhere.

Clearer more concise logical analysis I've yet to see.

>>> To paraphrase: "We have to build the Mosque at Ground Zero or there will be violent reaction in the muslim world." America is supposed to give in to extortion and threats? Hell, no.

I didn't see any of the interview, but I trust Tom's distillation of it.

Can anyone recall the last time a prominent Christian leader, clergy, priest, or pope made any such implied threat of violence? Anyone?

"Religion of peace" they say? That assertion heard repeated incessantly by the islamist apologists is a lie designed to mislead the foolish and the ignorant.

This is predictable.

On the question of the Mosque, BO said they have a Constitutional right and he refused to comment on the wisdom of the Mosque.

On the question of Quran burning he ignores the Constitutional right and goes right into the wisdom of the act.

BO has got to be one of the worst "leaders" the US has had. Maybe it's time to have them meet for a beer.

quote:

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is exhorting a Florida minister to "listen to those better angels" and call off his plan to engage in a Quran-burning protest this weekend.

Obama told ABC's "Good Morning America" in an interview aired Thursday that he hopes the Rev. Terry Jones of Florida listens to the pleas of people who have asked him to call off the plan. The president called it a "stunt."

"If he's listening, I hope he understands that what he's proposing to do is completely contrary to our values as Americans," Obama said. "That this country has been built on the notion of freedom and religious tolerance."...

Pastor Terry Jones, if insisting in burning the Koran's should burn one Koran for each 19 Islamist extremists that committed murder on 9/11. Not just a pile of Koran's representing islamic extremists "sorta-kinda-like". He should get more specific. We have lots tolerance in the usa, the rest of the world needs to learn it.

Obama has a history of blindness.

* He refused to call the Ft. Hood shootings an act of Islamic terrorism.
* Same for the Christmas bomber.
* He ignores the WTC Victory Mosque controversy but opens his yapper about in Florida who wants to burn books.
* His cabinet refused to call 9/11 an act of Islamic terrorism.
* He goes to the Islamic world and bad mouths America.
* His attorney general wants to try Gitmo Islamic terrorists as common criminals in NYC.

The beat goes on folks. It is not a huge leap to see where Obama sides.

I take Obama at his word that he is a Christian. However, iSLAM doesn't recognize Obama's Christianity because his father owned an iSLAM.

We will probably hear that he really was a member of iSLAM after Michelle divorces him when they exit the stage.

The koran burning is definately a bad idea. But it may be too late... the word is already out and as far as they (islamic extremists) are concerned it's already been done. The fact that they even publicly thought about doing the burning makes them infidels. The damage is already done.
