Where do you New York State Buellers put the inspection sticker on your bikes? I'm going to have to be dealing with this on 4 different machines: Blast, XB12Ss, S2T and S1W. I don't want the sticker on the fork tube. So ok, here goes (wide open for abuse): Can you tell me where to stick it? | ||

Yea, I kinda forgot to get my bikes inspected for the last few years  (Mostly because my XB would never come close to passing) Anyway, I've never had any issues with the fork tube. My 06 Uly had it on the frame. If you got some scrap metal you could make up a bracket to mount to the bikes, the oil cooler is a good spot on the XB, I would have to think where to put it on the rest of the bikes. Also be prepared to send $200 to the Gov so you can get the bikes registered each year. Grumble... | ||

My Buells always had them on the fork tubes, my Sporty has it on the left side down tube. IIRC, the removable inspection sticker plates that places sell are illegal in NY. | ||

The Imperial State is very picky. I'd have to check the regs...since the web site doesn't seem to have the manual for inspectors. They just put them on the fork tube here. | ||

Is this a safety inspection, or emissions? We used to have safety inspections back when there weren't any emissions inspections. Now that emissions has taken over, safety inspections are a thing of the past. No inspections for bikes at all any more. | ||

Left fork tube. Good idea to put it under the triple clamp, so fork leg can be removed for service without destroying the sticker. | ||

Mine are on the back side of the left fork tube. You can't see the sticker from the front of the bike. | ||

Interesting.... they placed on the frame for my Uly '09 (left side on the front). My old Xbs had on the left fork. I noticed the fork has ridge which is difficult to remove the sticker so slap on the frame. The inspection sticker can be combined for both safety and emission for some region but most others are safety inspection for us Western NY. | ||

Per nys v&t law. Left fork tube I thought the law read that it had to be on the front, left lower section of the bike, but not the fork specifically. I could be wrong, though. My 2004 Sportster had it on a little illegal plate that Agustus mentioned - never had a problem from the law with it. My Firebolt had it on the front/left portion of the frame. I asked why they didn't put it on the fork and they said that the ribbed texture on the fork leg wouldn't let the sticker stick well. I worked in a auto garage for a long time and I know that some batches of stickers come and are not very sticky, so I was okay with that. On my 1964 Sportster it was on the front downtube. On my 1125CR it's also on the fork tube, and positioned up high enough that you cant see it unless you look behind the pod. On my S3T it's on one of the frame braces up at the front of the bike, and again is really hard to see since it's kind of buried in where the front of the gas tank and front fairing is. I don't care for them to be so hidden as it gives something for a cop to give you a hard time about of they so choose, but I've yet been bothered by any of it. I'm really not sure why they don't just have another spot for a sticker on the plate to go with the registration. They already have to have different inspection stickers for bikes as it is (cars are sticky on the face since they go on the inside of the windshield). Also be prepared to send $200 to the Gov so you can get the bikes registered each year. Grumble... Sucks for you downstaters - Each bike is $14/yr a for me. | ||

It is now $17 per year for registration for upstaters.... Remember NY is milking us for debt payment.... | ||

Last year I paid 35.oo for my bike registration this year it was 65.00, (plus 30.00 for inspection) As of 8/1/10 NJ inspections will no longer be required. Only emissions testing every 2 years for vehicles. Motorcycles are now exempt from emissions and inspection. I must remove all registration and inspection stickers from my plate. It's up to the owner to maintain all safety features of their vehicle. I think it's gonna get ugly in jersey. | ||

Inspection in NY should still be $6, and yes the law says it must be on the left front but I'm not certain if it says specifically on the fork or not. It does need to be on a "permanent" piece of the bike which is why the little metal pieces are not legal and why they can't go on the body work. If the shop is smart, they will put it on the smaller portion of the fork tube so it will still slip past the triples for service. | ||

Man, y'all need to move to NM. $36.00 for 2 year registration. No safety or emission inspections. $200 is just unreasonible. |
