I am a Ford guy and used to buy and sell classic Mustangs, I have a running horse on my upper left arm and a cobra on my upper right arm. I still enjoy looking at them in the mirror and wearing sleeveless shirts when I go to a car show or cruise-in to get all the great comments from people who drive mustangs. |

DUDE!!!!! When did 33 become middle aged??? Get somebody whom you love and trust like a brother to just blast the shit out of your arms, chest, back and neck. Be the canvas, and let the artist work. Also, don't argue about whatever he decides to charge you. The guy has to eat. |

Swords...I can draw about as good as a basketball player becoming a jockey. I'm the type to give the artist an idea and let them roll. I wouldn't have a clue as to how to draw that up. |

I'm not against tattoos in general. It's something personal to each. It seems that a lot people get tats to make a certain impression others. If you decide to do it, do it for you. I too have tempted to get a tattoo at certain times if my life[military]ect. However I've decided that the almighty made my body perfect, it needs no decoration.... [perfect for me anyway] |

What is the story with tattoo in the Military? Some on told me that is court martial offense to ge one. That can't be the truth. half the young Marines at Pendelton would be in trouble and Ocean side would be ghost town. Could someone help with this one. |

If the tattoo interferes with your duties [recovery time] you could be prosecuted, but I've never heard of a case. I was in the USN. A superstitious old tradition of sailors in the old days says that if you have a tattoo of a pig of hog on your foot or ankle, than you'll never die by drowning. Also the military's thinking is that If they don't like the tattoo they'll have the option to press charges if it doesn't conform to the non-existing standard. Kind of ridiculous huh? Hey SM, I'm no tattoo expert and I'm not particularly bright either and I certainly have no right telling anyone what they should or shouldn't do. Having said that... 1) At any price ink is cheap (unless you die immediatly following) usually it translates to pennies per week or something like that. 2) Pamela Anderson has an arm band... 3) Some Tattoo "Artists" aren't... Choose wisely. 4) Having a good repore with your artist is really important. 5) A real artist will want to talk to you and suggest a bunch of different ideas. They may even suggest a different artist if they think a different artist would suit your needs/tastes. How many roses have you seen that were the same ? The artist makes a huge difference ! 6) It's only skin. 7) It's forever. Well sort of nowadays with the lazer removal thingy. 8) Think about it...are you tribal...really ? 9) Tattoos can certainly be addictive 10) GO BIG !!! Holla if you think I may be able to answer any questions you may have. Rolling Rock............... |

the unit I was in, you could not have any identifying marks on ya. tattoos, scars, birthmarks, moles, nothing that could be tracked back to a record. And anybody that ran finger prints was lucky to get the same answer twice We had one guy get 'promoted' out of the unit when is orthoscopic knee surgery left a scar. |

After 12 years in the military, I avoided them, some guys had them, but the whole tat thing wasn't nearly as accepted or big at the time. To this day, I don't have one and there are only two that I've ever considered. First is the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor, for obvious reasons. The second would be a small stick figure running with 26.2 under it. But to date, I've had neither put on. I just can't see myself in twenty years still wanting either on me (ok, maybe the Marine Corps emblem). Whatever you decide to get, make sure you would still want the design 20+ years later. |

Wayne, the 26.2 stick man sounds really cool. I can on various areas, upper arm, ankle, maybe forearm. sounds like fun. The Corps emblem would be good anywhere you want, You earned that. the Marathon stickman you also earned. I have a few, and thinking a couple more. I got my first one in 1960 in Fayettville NC. Fort Bragg, I doubt if that shop is still around. Pay nights were hell back in the day. |

Uniforms, when we wore them, were sanitized, and I had rank from E-4 to O-6; and the authorization to wear em. It was always fun, arriving in country, and shopping for local clothes to 'blend in' Linguist, see the world, get to talk about it in 25 years. |

"2) Pamela Anderson has an arm band... " Point taken. Thanks for all the feedback! Guess if I'm going to get one, I need to start dropping in at some shops and chatting with the artists. ~SM |
