So, I'm in the Jeep the other day, and there was a song I don't like too much on Margaritaville Radio (Buffett's station). If you're not familiar with Sirius radio, and the Stratus receiver, it will display the station ID on the top line of the display, and the name of the song or other info on the bottom line. This one had long scrolling text on the second line, I could read "ncert - 7/17/99, E.Tro" as I reached up to press the station button to change it.

"E.Tro". waitaminute.

Pushed it back, and sure enough, it was a concert in E. Troy, WI.

Now, I've been to ET. A couple times. It's not....huge.

WHERE THE HELL would they stick Jimmy Buffett for a concert?? Gus's??? : )

Sunny and I listen to Radio Margaritaville online all the time... and at homecoming, we heard about him playing at Alpine.

Radio Margaritaville also plays a LOT of other obscure music - keeps it very interesting.

One of my FAVORITE pieces - John Prine and Iris Dement - "In Spite of Ourselves" - in the same vein as Buffett's "Why don't we get drunk and screw?" Tune starts about 1:20

The youtube cut has Prine talking a bit about Thornton's movie "Daddy and Them" (the song was written for the movie) but the tune itself is CLASSIC.

Worth a listen

Yes, Alpine Valley... Most of the big summer concerts that come here in the summer, play there. If you have ever seen Motley Crue's video for Same 'old Situation, that was filmed there. I think there was a Bon Jovi video filmed there as well.

Cool.

Learn something new every day (now, I'm done for today and tomorrow - learned item #1 is, pulling and reinstalling the 5 speed transmission out of a 1991 Spirit R/T may be a pain in the ass...but it can be done inside of 3 hours - and I try to only learn one thing a day).
