Odie, very happy with my LCP. The addition of the Crimson Trace laser grip and a pocket/wallet holster makes it the perfect carry/close-range defense weapon, easily concealable pretty much regardless of attire. Good LCP forum: www.elsiepeaforum.com

Thanks for the link. I will probably go buy it this weekend. The PX has a gun shop now so no tax and the prices are cheaper. They also have ammo I can't seem to find anywhere else most times. I've wanted a .380 for a while since the .45, although very compact, is a little large sometimes.

This is my new gun, Springfield Armory .45 XD, came with 2 - 13 round mags. That's a lot of rounds for a .45, it has the longer handle which fits my man hands better. I also use this for CC and it tucks in just fine. Got the 4" barrel. It's a dream to shoot also, real smooth and at 15 yards I was shooting a real good pattern. So if it ever came down to it I know I would be able to pull this and be accurate. Was only $450 new. It has the trigger safety and the rear grip safety as well. I really like the 2 features it has to see that it has a round in the chamber and also there is a little nub that sticks out the back when the firing pin is back, on top of the slide there is a piece that slightly sticks up when it has a round in the chamber, so you can feel both of them if you are in the dark. Those 2 features are what made my mind up between this gun and the Smith and Wesson M&P .45. I really like this gun.

my home defense weapon of choice is the Ruger GP100 with 185gr hollows, it is dead accurate, and after polishing the trigger parts, it is smooth as hell!!!

still haven't decided on my carry weapon yet, the GP100 is a tad large!! always like the P89DC, but it is also a bit large.

one day i will figure it out!

My wife has a stainless Firestar in 9mm. She won't carry a gun if it is not pretty and shoots straight for her. She is the first to tell a LEO that his Glock is ugly. I shot stationary skeet at 75 yards with a Glock in .45. That was a good shooting pistol.

My personal home defense round is a .454 CASULL 300 gr JHP/XTP/MAG. Muzzle 1650 fps, 50 yds 1490, and 100 yds 1348.

I hope that if I have to shoot a zombie, I'm laying in the bath tub, no window behind me, in fear for my life, with them bending over me. Easier to defend in court.

I used to be thin and wear baggy clothes. I could CC almost anything. For a while I carried a Cobray M-11 with 4 30 rnd. magazines. Then I went to a Colt Officer's lightweight in .45ACP, always loaded with Hydrashoc.

My friend has one and a px4 in .45. I have an xd 45, a Dan Wesson commander bobtail in 10mm and a BFR in .500 S&W. I prefer the ruger to the px4 as I shoot it better. Neither one of them has a trigger worth a damn and I hate decockers and similar foolishness. I (and everyone who lays eyes or hands on it) absolutely love the Dan Wesson. 10mm is similar to the .41 magnum ballistically, so it's plenty stout and oh so accurate. I highly recommend a quality 1911. I warn you though, all other pistol designs will fade away when you shoot one. I loved my xd until I shot the DW. I now rarely shoot it.

I have the LCR for home, and am thinking the LCP for carrying. I've read nothing but good about that pistol.

EZ, the LCP "smilie's" its rounds in the process of chambering them. If you're not sure what this is, go to elsiepeaforum.com and search the term. Whether it's a "problem" or not seems to depend on one's view. I put 150 rounds thru my LCP yesterday, and still love the gun, but it most definitely does a smilie on the rounds as they chamber.

Smilies are caused by a chamber that is not fully supported and is not an issue if you use new ammo. The problem is the brass should not be reloaded because the case might rupture. I load all my own ammo so I would not consider a pistol with an unsupported chamber but those who buy ammo have nothing to fear.

A ex girlfriend of mine was a cop for 20 years, and used to make fun of me for keeping a Ruger Voquero in 45 LC for home defense, because it only held 6 rounds. My response was "If I have to empty 6 rounds from a gun, there's a REALLY big problem going on." Zombies beware!
