Acts including Rage Against the Machine, Kanye West and Maroon 5 are all refusing to perform in the state until officials reverse the legislation, which gives Arizona police the power to arrest anyone suspected of being an illegal immigrant. But John has refused to join the protest - and he reportedly slammed the campaigners during a concert at the Tucson Arena in Arizona on Thursday. According to the Arizona Daily Star, John told the crowd of 8,800: "We are all very pleased to be playing in Arizona. I have read that some of the artists won't come here. They are f**kwits! Let's face it: I still play in California, and as a gay man I have no legal rights whatsoever. So what the (expletive is) with these people?" The new legislation comes into effect on Thursday. | ||

Thats good on him because I think the law is kinda awesome and wish more states would implement it (texas especially) | ||

I just read that on MSN and it kinda surprises me coming from him. I would have bet he came down on the illegals side. I still don't get passing a law to enforce a law that is already on the books. Whether it be local, state or federal. I'm all for enforcing the matter, just saw a new commercial from the Arizona gov. this morning saying she asked the White House to do something and all Az. got were signs 80 miles from the border and 30 miles from the capitol warning people that the area is dangerous and could have drug and human smuggling going on. 80 miles! That's crazy. | ||

I would have bet he came down on the illegals side The guy is an entertainer and doesn't think his celebrity status entitles him to mouth off about the policies of a foreign country (he is British isn't he?). If you think that is surprising, he also played at Rush Limbaugh's recent wedding reception. |
