Do we have any female military members out there? Or any military members I have a question for you all. I am Active Duty Airforce. I have been in for 8 years, my wife has been with me for 6.5 of those 8 years. We are due with our second child on the 19th of Aug. My wife is a very proud military wife. she has had to deal with deployments, exercises, no notice TDY's, and 12 hour shifts.

Recently we took some pre-baby pics. In some of the pics she had my ABU top on. She posted them on facebook and now some of our female friends (who are in the Air National Guard) are upset about the pics, saying it is disrepectful to the women who are in the military. just wondering what you all think. Either way we are keeping the photos up. We like them. And if you are going to get mad about that, then you must really hate pin up pics.

I think the military wife has the hardest job in the military, thank you for all the faithfull military wifes.

Disrespectful I would guess in that she is not "in the military" and therefore not eligible to wear the uniform. I say that as your wife she is not being disrespectful at all in wearing parts of your uniform.

Oh, and thank you for your service and congrats to you and your wife on your pending baby.

My wife went through 2 WESTPAC cruises with me in the early 70's. We're still together 40 years later! Tough ladies for sure.

Some people are just ignorant and afraid of the true female form. They think woman should hide their pregnat bellies and not let anybody know they brest feed. F-them! Thaose are the things that make a woman more beautiful.

And congrats on your baby and beautiful wife. And also thanks for your service.
Both of you!

If you are in the military your wife is too! Without the support of family, extended family, friends and the nation as a whole the military cannot reasonably be expected to continue to serve us. If the objectors don't like the fact that your wife isn't enlisted...too bad. She "signed up" the same as you did. Leave the pic's up. More power to you and your family.

Nice pics, and AFAIK, as long as the uniform is not desecrated or worn by the enemy, it's all good.

From my view, the uniform is being given a great honor.

Better go out and arrest everyone in fake camo, or those who shop at military surplus shops. Jeesh, some people got nothing better to do than bash on a military family's photos?!? It's all good, and congrats.

Those nagging babes are disrespectful for whining over it. They can TTFU as you and yours set a great example of American family values. Thanks for your service and your wife's commitment to supporting you.

Because she is in the military, when she wears the uniform wrong, she makes the entire USAF look wrong. There's nothing wrong with cute baby momma pics, just leave the uniform out of it; or at least take the blouse with name and rank off. It has nothing to do with her being a woman, or her being pregnant. It has more to do with AFI 36-2903.

Just my $.02

My wife is not in the military, just married to it. The women that seam to have an issue with they both are in the Guard. Nothing against the guard but it is not active duty, just not the same.

The baby is due Aug 18th. It is a boy, Aaron James Kenney

I have to agree with this statement, but probably not in the way that most would. The "guard" is comprised of full time citizens, which include mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters. Citizens that wish to serve their country to the best of their capacity. Of the citizens there are also doctors, police officers, small business owners, mechanics, and so on. These citizens that choose to take on a duty that is mostly comprised of weekends and a couple weeks in the summer. They are trained to be ready for what ever their state or country may call them to do, but regardless of this training they can still be called to leave on a moments notice and in most cases that can be a surprise and hardship to them. Not only them their families and employers and in some cases their employees. When it comes down to it they are as much of a soldier or airman as anyone in the Army or Air Force. They serve in a different and equally important capacity. Just because they don't live on an army post or air force base doesn't mean they don't make the same sacrifices as someone whom does.

BTW I spent 9 years in the "guard" and of those 9 years, 7 were active duty within the "guard".

Well if it were the Army, it would be in violation of AR 670-1 (The proper WEAR and care of the uniform).

You Air Force people seem to be more lax with stuff like that though.

I would defriend anybody that had a qualm about it.
Its not like she is 'impersonating' a uniformed member. She is wearing the issued uniform improperly.... one that was not issued to her, and since she is NOT under the jurisdiction of the UCMJ as a service member; uniform dress codes don't apply.

What the hell do they say about this camo ?

Many of you that have not served do not realize how sacred the uniform is to many military members. It is what sets us apart from the rest of society, it is how people recognize who we are and what we do.

I understand your intentions were good in doing this, honoring your wife and her service to the country by staying with you. My wife also has been through many hard times in my 11 years in service but she and I both understand the uniform regulations. She did earn the right to wear the uniform BUT there are other ways to show her pride in what I do. She has shirts from every unit I have ever been with.

Think of it this way also,
1. She is not properly wearing the uniform.
2. Look at all the military impersonators that are getting in worlds of shit for not ever serving and wearing military uniforms and awards.
3. Think back a couple of years when the female pilot (Air Force also) posed in Playboy with part of the uniform on and the world of shit that was brought down on her.

Alot of you on here are not getting the big picture of it. It is not about the camo as many of you posted and are that narrow freaking minded to believe. It is about the proper wear of a uniform that was earned and died for by many. If she did not go through the same indoctrination (BOOT CAMP) to earn and wear the uniform then she should not. If it did not have the name tapes rank and emblem on it then it would not be that big of a deal. Me personnally if she was in a Marine Corps uniform I would be rather pissed as well.

I took the pictures a different way. I didn't see them as paying homage to the Air Force (or any branch of the military) as much as wanting to be near an active duty (or deployed) loved one.

Hasn't your wife ever worn a shirt or jacket of your just because it's yours?

It could just as easily have been a Fireman's Jacket or Policeman's uniform for a loved one who fell at 9/11.

I see it more as the ultimate in respect. It's not just a uniform. It's an extension of a loved one. It's pride, and love, and excitement at getting to introduce that service man to a new life. It's prayers for safe returns. It's sorrow for those whose family members will never return. It's love of country and being greatful for living in America.

Were she showing her stuff in Playboy, I'd be pissed too. There isn't an ounce of disrespect in her intentions.

In fact, it's the highest form of honor. It's a wife and future child pridefully putting their futures on the line for a country they love, for putting their lives on hold for the sake of others.

I think she, as a military wife, has earned the right for a couple of snapshots.
