That's it. I need a fighting chance against the revenue collectors sitting in industrial areas after dark and in the middle of the grape vinyeard out in BFE.

I need to know what you guys like as far as radar detector and if you can tell me why too.

thanks.

Well, people will argue radar detectors like they argue favorite beers... I've had all sorts of detectors but I settled on the Valentine 1 and haven't stopped enjoying it.

It's surely kept me out of many a ticket and it's upgradeable. They are pricey...but I like to spend my money one time and use a product that is reliable and consistent for a long time.

Whatever you decide on, realize there is no protection to LIDAR or "Instant On" KA Band.

Valentine One or Escort. The only way to go.

The new 9500ix has internet access so that you can update it for traffic cams and likely speed traps.

Great unit.

Love my Escort 8500 X50V. Saves me on a daily basis. I move it to whatever vehicle I'm driving/riding.

There is a reason the Valentine1 is most often NOT listed in RD comparison tests...other units just don't match up...

+... what, 5 now? for the V1. Love mine. I've picked up a cop nearly 2 miles away over hills and around curves. Totally blew my mind. Crazy what happens when you get some reflective surfaces involved.

Why buy a radar detector when you can buy a radar jammer. It is better and it will tell you if and when you are being hit with a laser.

They are spendy but work very well

My friend has his truck rigged up and it cost him $750 and he has not got a ticket since.

Here is a youtube video similar to what he is using

You can't "jam" a radar but you can "blind" a laser. Jamming would require you to broadcast a signal which would be illegal without a license.

The trick is to find out what the locals are using. Around here it's Ka band radar and the Valentine 1 can pick it up from over a mile away.

Lazy cops here drive around with their radars on full time so it's real easy to avoid being ambushed.

Escort vs. Valentine--Escort Won

Very Good Buyers Guide

The V1 has a cult following, but time and technology has passed it by. There hasn't been a major improvement in the unit since it's release.

The Escort is better in every regard except the "arrow thingy".

Even though it is possible to "blind" a laser. It is illegal to do so in a few states.
