So we're doing nothing, just watching a movie.
Listening to the thunder out in the distance, counting the time it takes for the thunder to sound after seeing a flash of lightning.
It's pretty far off, so no biggie.
CRASH!
Wait...what?
That wasn't thunder, there was no lightning.
If it wasn't thunder, why did the house shake.
Ann and I jump up and run to the front door, only to see...
green?

So where's the truck?
Oh I see it, it's under that tree that just broke in half and fell on the house...

That is the front of the house, I don't see it either.

The culprit.

Well, the power is still on.
Obviously the internet is still going.
The roof isn't leaking, so far.
The boys are ok, the thing fell right on top of their rooms.
The power line got knocked down but not completely.
The power company is busy with getting power back on for the jail house, and a subdivision up the street, and since the lines aren't touching the ground, we're not at the top of the list.
Ann was a bit shaken up.
Colin is at work, so Ann called him and told him to be careful, and not come up the driveway.
It's an adventure for Cody.
Me?
I'm glad it wasn't worse.
But then again, this is really the last thing I needed...
But, I'm counting my blessings, and tomorrow, I'm buying a lottery ticket.

GOOD GRIEF!!!
Well, looks like you still have power, at least barely, so far. It's not raining..............yet. It has been here off and on. Is the truck just under brush, or any big stuff?
It might look different from your house, and daylight may change things, but so far, I vote for blessed!
It's always something though, ain't it.

hope ya'll doing ok glitch and ann has been able to calm down. it could be nerve racking when you can't really see what's happened. i know that one first hand. a very large branch off a tree that finally came down altogether the year after we moved in here came down. the scary part was it was before dawn and went down toward the railroad track which is my backyard neighbor. couldn't really tell how far over the track it went and i was hearing a train coming. not a good feeling at all. luckily it was only small branches that actually rubbed against the train.

Glad all are OK. The rest is insured (I hope!) and can be fixed. Looks like you just got a bonus load of fire wood! Hopefully this is nothing more than a speed bump in life, no permanant damage. It does suck while dealing with it though.

Ouch, wish I was closer, I'd saddle up and offer a strong back and a week mind to help.
I hope that your weather is cloudy and breezy today that will help make the clean up bareable,

your right its tough some times to count your blessings, if the main parts of the roof are not damaged from the pix it looks like facia boards and gutter mebe some shingles, depending on the $$ your home owners ins should cover it, I do hope that the truck is undamaged

Glitch, we're sending good thoughts your way. Had a similar dealio winter before last, but during a blizzard. It's a pretty unnerving experience. If you need any $ help, say the word brother. Hugs to you & Ann and your family.

As bad as it looks, I'd say blessed. The important thing is no one was hurt. Of course that's easy for me to say, I don't have a tree on my house.

Well we got most of the tree cleared off the roof. Even got enough out of the way so the power company could hook the power back up.

I am spent, so a Sam Adams and lunch, then a short nap.

Yes we are blessed.
Called Charlie up this morning, using Colin's cell phone, because the tree took out the part of the house that was holding the service.
Woke him up. Sorry 'bout that Charlie.
While we were loading up the truck with implements of destruction, he looks at me and says, "you know I'm coming over to help".
What a guy!
Things didn't look better in the day light either.
The truck is fine! I can't believe it! Not a scratch!

Ann took these, after I had already started to work.

Having good friends is priceless.
I told Charlie he didn't have to help, the tools are all I needed.
He says, you'd come help me wouldn't you.

All in all it's been a big pain in the ass.
