I started a project about 1 mo. ago that has turned out to be a lot of fun, First a little history. In 1988 my father purchased a twin cylinder lawn tractor---He pased a way in 1990 . This thing has been stored in my barn for the pasr 19 yr's . It was covered with dirt and some rust I thought I wonder if I can make it run a gain. As I baby sit my great grand son. ( his mother is in college and his father works in construction long hrs so he spend's about 80% of his time with me He is only 2 1/2 yr's old) He and I have dis mantled this thing and started puting it back when I thought how nice it would be to make hin a minature tractor. He under stands about 75% of my tools and is good to fetch them for me We have the old motor runing as smooth as glass. I am now in the prosess of puting 36 inch tires on the rear (tractor type) and elevating the front in to a level posion. It will take some time to convert the body to look like a farm tractor but it is a fun project. tks for reading.---Cowboy | ||

Cowboy, I learned a lot of what I know tagging along behind my Grandpa and my Dad, fetching tools and observing procedures. You pick up on an order things are done in and what tools to go for first. What you may not understand is how much you are actually teaching the kid but you'll see it one day when he starts taking on his own projects. Good on you! JB2 | ||

My grandfather taught me to play cribbage, and consequently how to add, before I was 5. I have nothing but loving and fond memories of him. Your grandson will remember working on that tractor with you for the rest of his life. | ||

That is just awesome! I have had my grandson sitting on my lap running the levers on a big excavator. He was not quite two yet, seemed to understand what he was making happen, and did not want to quit. Now that he is nearly three he loves riding on my tractor with me. Funny, he is really good at running the lever for the loader, but cannot steer the thing worth beans.  | ||

To many people are just letting the electronics take over and not teaching the kids anything. just how to play with gizmos and gadgets. When i was in school, calculators were a no no. Now in some classes it is now a requirement. How are you going to learn if you don't do the work. Good on ya and keep it up! | ||

Update on spacial project. Here is a short video on Tristan's new tractor. Still work to be done, next post would be finish product. Tristan is 2years and 8 months old, his uncle is 3 and 1/2 years old sitting behind him.
