Zack- See this post I linked above:

It can be disassembled. New12r (Charlie) had a new shaft made for his Uly throttle body a while back. Better than the original. Here's the beginning of the original thread showing how Charlie's broke:

The whole throttle body assembly is like ~$500 so it sure seems like it'd be worthwhile and cheaper to have a replacement shaft fabricated.

Going to need a lath to cut the end down for the threads, all the rest could be done on a mill. If you were really into it, you could weld a fresh butterfly onto the shaft for extra strength, or take it to one more level and cut the entire thing out of solid stainless.

This probably associated with the old (05 and earlier) XBs by chance? Mine has 50,000 miles on it and never an issue so I'm hoping it will continue that trend.

It would be great if someone could make some shafts and offer them for sale on here.
With overnight shipping a trip could be saved.

The problem seemed to concentrate with 06 Uly TBs. Don't know why, but there have been several reported here.

Might have been too much pressure exerted on the screw when it was staked over and cracking the shaft. All of these screws need to be split (staked) to make certain they do not back out and run through the motor.

Could have also been a bad batch of raw materials.

Would still be nice if you could pick up a new shaft and couple of screws for $15 or $20, would be easy enough to pack that it could have saved this person an entire day.

Steve, I'm hoping the rest of your trip goes well.

Sorry we didn't get to have our Burger Beer Bonfire program, next time for sure!

Glad to see BadWeB folks able to help in your time of need. Who was it that made the two hour trip and sacrificed their parts? My hat is off to them. Good Job.

From my family, our best to you on your up coming tour in Iraq. Thank you for being there for us.

Hey everyone...I just arrived here in New Jersey a few minutes ago. It took an 870 mile day today (a personal best) to get here, but the weather was perfect and the bike was flawless. Thanks to everyone for the help, advise, and hospitality! Sorry Vern that I missed seeing the Tennessee Bueller...I'll catch you guys on my way home...after my year in Iraq.

I'll post some pictures and a ride report over in the Uly section sometime tomorrow...here Trip Report
