at 52 you think that i would learn a few things along the way.
like never lead with your heart in a budding relationship, its been a tough week
trying to shake off the hurts that come with rejection .....

the worst one is when you are led to believe that you have been excepted by some one who realy appeals to you on many levels, only to realize that the leap of faith is not into a warm caring love but into the pain of rejection

I guess Im not as old as I think I am..

sorry I needed to vent...

Most people never do.

The only other option is to harden your heart and live with everyone at arms length.

to be honest i cant imagine wanting to live like that.

There, there brother. We never get too old for that. I hope not too much time was invested in that fund. ; ) Listen to some Led Zeppelin and spend time with your two cylinder mistress.

You have to take the risk. No risk no reward. Keep your head up and look to the future. This will all be a memory in 6 months.

Oldog - it's her loss and you deserve better! You're a good man that deserves to receive what you give in a relationship. Don't loose sleep over this one...as Natexlh1000 said, keep fishing!

M/F relations not dissimilar to riding, you can get hurt bad but what a rush.

You know you are going to patch up the damage & climb back on.

Old!- Too Old! - Was going thru my discharge papers from 40 years ago & there were pictures from someone back-in-the-day.
Damn! . . . Everything came tumbling back.

Oldog, you are well respected by your Buell family so do not let this get you down. You deserve a lot better.

Keep fishing and keep taking risk. The reward is great.

Bunnies don't bark and wake you up when the garbage truck comes at 4am, and they don't scratch the hell out of your furniture : )

Once upon a time, a Prince asked a beautiful Princess...
“Will you marry me?”

The Princess said “NO!”

And the Prince lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and went fishing and hunting and played golf and dated women half his age and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up .

The End

When in a similar situation 20 years ago I came up with this, When it comes to women you are only taking your turn and there is allot to be said for knowing when your turn is over. A couple of things from a 25 year old Sat. Night Live, the sequel to It ain't easy being easy, I ain't gonna be as easy to get rid of as I was easy to get in the first place, and If someone looks you in eyes and says I have so much love to give what they mean is I am the black hole of emotional need and I will suck the life out of you. another one of mine is, the pool of single people is in constant change for each one that leaves the pool another one enters, laugh it off and move on it's better to fail than never try

But it is a damn funny picture, and you need to smile!

Keep your chin up, I have an aquaintence that married at 62 last week, he had been single for 26 years previous. It was an on again/off again thing as her kids didn't approve, so it just goes to show you you never know.

I keep thinking about my friend that just lost his wife in a motorcycle accident a couple a weeks ago, how he has no one, and that it will never be the same, but it can be different, and it will be different as he learns to adjust.

I am starting over at 52, it's been a great ride, and I have never been happier, as she is completely different than what I have experienced in a woman compared to the last 32 years. There is hope!

Good luck

no apologie needed Glitch, you got a chuckle out of me...

Im worn out from stress, no sleep (mind goes into endless loops) and pain.

I guess what I do not understand was the seeming intense affection, we had a date weekend at my place that part went off quite well, story book... sunday am shortly before she left, I shared my feelings, and things got strange, we talked a couple of times till tues pm ( I knew what was going to happen after she went home. )

My heart endured what my body did back in '86 on wolf pen gap road ..... crash and burn, at least there I understood my stupidity here I'm clueless

"They all have snakes in their heads, and are capable of the most inhuman evil at the worst time."

My granddaddy told me that a long time ago. I never gave it much thought, but after two ex-wives I am starting to think that, damn it, maybe he was right all along.

Either that, or as the saying goes "the only common denominator in all of my bad relationships has been me" thing.

Keep your head up, better days are ahead!

One more thought from the great Texas philosopher Kinky Friedman: "No matter how beautiful she is, somewhere out there is a guy who's just TIRED of her shit."

Oldog,

Just went thru this yet again myself. Makes ya wonder sometimes. I"ll never learn to not lead with my heart.

I have lived the life of keeping people at arms length. It sucks! My former employment option made it way to east to do that.
