If I had seen the police car behind me and the "road rager with the gun in front of me". If I did not think the officer behind me would stop him in time, I would have stuffed him back in his car with the Uly full throttle. That had to be the dumbest move I've seen this week. Better ID yourself before I see the gun.

Upon FURTHER looking at the tape... and slowing it down...

Uuhhhh..... I dont know...

Looks like the State Trooper has NO lights on at all...

MY OPINION HERE:

Seems this off duty (my assumption) officer is on the interstate driving... sees a bike go faster than the flow of traffic... MOST LIKELY calls into dispatch to request a Trooper... and explains what he has seen...

As the biker gets to the off ramp... he pulls over for some reason... I am NOT sure that I would have...

The KEY to this would be to find out IF that guy is in a UNMARKED STATE LE Vehicle...

PROBLEM... the biker POSTED the damn video... it CLEARLY shows him moving REALLY fast.

Actually looked like fun... but here nor there... he did it on camera...

I would find out WHO signed the ticket....

Did the TROOPER witness the event..?? NO.... then did the undercover or plain clothes write the ticket.... Might be a department policy against that as well...

The GUN issue is going to be a mute point... IF he can articulate he was 20-30 mph over the speed... he is a FLEEING FELON... or atleast in GEORGIA he would be.

Its a tricky situation.. with alot of grey areas that need to be looked at... but the biker does stand a chance... but of course that all depends on the court that they go into as well.... I have seen some judges taht take the officers word no matter what is said.... and some that dont...

Matt.

Holy crap! Just watched the video, and wow, some dude jumps out of a car and draws a gun on you, what would you do?! Oh, this happened in MD? Not surprised, just another isolated incident.
And passing on the right illegal? Haha, whatever, some days the left lane IS the slow lane, it is ridiculous! I've seen cars change lanes into the left lane for no reason, and go under the limit.
I also didn't see any of his riding as being wreckless.

Ourdee,

I AGREE...

The biker though sees the TROOPER though so that is some... small piece of mind...

Had the trooper NOT been there AT ALL...

Well... everybody can say what they would do... but this white boy would have down shift... yank back.. squeeze in the butt cheeks and make him prove that the 4 wheeler was capable.

but... thats just me...

I DONT ADVOCATE that... as I have been is SERIOULS SHIT for that before...

Matt.

Bikertrash50,

To us bikers.. its not reckless.. it was kinda cool... including the wheelie..

BUT... to LEO.... excessive speed and the wheelie do constitute reckless driving...

As a European truck driver & having ridden on superslab in the US too, I can tell you with absolute confidence, your roads are way more dangerous than over here.

I've had traffic stops, all over Europe in trucks cars & on bikes, & NEVER even seen a cop touch his gun let alone draw it.

Yeah the guy was riding a bit squiddly but not recklessly so in my opinion.

I don't like people passing on the inside, which is illegal here & carries stiff penalties, purely because in a rig I have huge blind spots on that side.

As for the filming thing, my understanding from the news report is that you can't film with sound. The camera mounted on the helmet was a bit of a giveaway too.
How does the cop know that he wasn't informed about the recording? he was yelling & shouting so much he couldn't of heard if he had been informed.

This sort of thing just reinforces the stereotype images that non US citizens have, of your Law Enforcement as gun happy, shoot first & ask questions later, cowboys.
It gives me no pleasure to say this I can assure you, but it does you & your countrymen no favours whatsoever to see this stuff, & in this globalised internet age anyone anywhere can see what's happening in the world.

I imagine the officer in question has a dim future & the repo man will be collecting an Impala shortly.

Sadly Mr_grumpy, He will probably keep the car till he kills someone and they film it and the judge can't find them to sentence to 5 years. I have friends that are LEOs. Some incredible people. I hate it when a bad egg starts stomping in the mud splattering everyone.

Matt, I reluctantly agree, though I agree more so with Mr_grumpy's opinion of more squiddly than recklessly.

The HUGE problem with this is the guy pulling up next to the biker, the biker does what I would have done and backs up (and I would have thought "WTF is up with this cager?"), only to have said cager get out and draw a gun on you. Reckless riding or not, that was uncalled for.

"This sort of thing just reinforces the stereotype images that non US citizens have, of your Law Enforcement as gun happy, shoot first & ask questions later, cowboys."
It isn't just non US citizens that think that.

This isn't as wild as the other video but it shows a LEO caught on tape acting unprofessional and cussing at a guy. Supposedly he was pulled over for doing 22mph in a 15mph zone. They suspended the cop.

and y'all wonder why I dont ride on the road much.

In six years of working at the dealership, I have been pulled over in excess of 80 times. Only two of those have been tickets; both dismissed out of court. 90% of the cars that pulled me over were undercover.... and if they did not have their lights flashing, I never would have stopped for them, I would have ducked down a trail

This situation, I never would have let a car pinch up on my right side like that. he wants nexgt to me like that, he is flipping his lights or hitting my bike.

(but then again, I aint wheelie-ing down the road either)

wow i am thinking that could have been a lot worse for both of them. that law is straight bullshit in the way it's being applied. WTF is a UC in a non traffic enforcement car doing pulling a rider or any motor-vehicle over?

cops have a shit job but it's their choice to have it so....

I have a funny story to tell. It's kind of similar to this...but without the law suit, ticket and BS...

One morning early I was on my way to work and jumped on I-20 to get out to the oil field salvage site *Salvager/Sandblaster guy that cut up and salvaged bits and pieces of old compressors and refurbished them* and I happened to be in my ’87 Buick Grand National that day.
The car at that time was pretty quick and I was still fine tuning the alcohol injection kit I had just installed.... So I decided to stretch her legs a little after I got on the highway. There was no traffic in site and I slammed the throttle down and sped a little then promptly shut it down to see if the Alcohol pump was working right. I coast down to about 5-7 MPH over the speed limit and next thing I know I come upon an unmarked vehicle doing 5 MPH under the speed limit and I put my blinker on, and give it a little throttle to pass him and the turbo responds with a loud buzz through a dump pipe on the passenger side...

I MIGHT have been doing 10 MPH over the limit and I didn’t think much of it, until I see this little red light snap onto the hood of the car behind me and it begins to close the distance with me. I see that he obviously wants me to pull over, so I comply and scoot over so he has to room to approach but something wasn't quite right.

A large man gets out of the car and starts hustling towards me and immediately starts chewing my ass for speeding. He's practically spitting in my face and yelling about how irresponsible I am, and how I almost pushed him off the road with my intense speed in my race car!

I ask the man what he needs and he says that I have to wait where I am and a patrol car would be arriving shortly, so I sit and wait. This entire time, he never identified himself, asked me for identification or anything, just an ass chewing and asked me to sit there.

So I sit... and several minutes later THP (Texas Highway Patrol) arrives and approaches the car behind me and starts talking to the man who chewed my butt and told me to stand by. I noticed that the man is getting frustrated during their talk and he even snatches the magnetic red light he snapped on the hood and tosses it back into his car.

The THP approaches my vehicle and identifies himself and asks to see my license and registration, which I immediately comply. He goes back to his patrol car and returns shortly and hands me back my stuff and says...

"Son, here's the deal... that guy back there that pulled you over has absolutely no authority to do so, in fact when I get done with you here, I'm taking him to see my boss so we can straighten this out. He claims you were speeding and what not, but he has no way to trap your speed, no authority to pull you over, and frankly I cannot believe you remained here. So, you're free to go and remember, if anyone in an unmarked car ever tries to pull you over and they don't immediately identify themselves, then you call 911 or keep moving. Understand? Be safe and have a good day!”
I start the car up and the officer turns around and leans in and says….
“By the way, I think these old Grand Nationals are some neat cars, you take care of it and keep it running. Stay OUT of trouble…”
I laugh and give him the old “Yes sir!” and merge with traffic and continue on my way to work.

I found out later, after my father called the THP to check in about it that the guy who pulled me over was nothing more than a city official of some sort and thought he could reason with the THP to get me a ticket.

LOL, good story!

Ok, I have one, too. I was in my '96 Riviera, and I had 18" rims. That equates to very little tire roll, but with its luxury suspension, more body roll.

I head on down the off ramp, and as I approach the intersection the light turns yellow. I wasn't really late for work, but I figured I'd make it, but I'd need to maintain some speed to do so. I make the left hand turn, pushing the tires to the limit of traction, with the car leaning at its limit as well. Of course, I scanned the traffic at the light to make sure a cop wouldn't be watching my Duke's of Hazzard driving style. However, one of the car takes off fast when the light turns green and proceeds to follow me to work. I park my car, the other car parks next to me we both get out, and he starts telling me how to drive. He had an iron-on badge on his shirt, Mall Security!

Just another !@$#$ with a short cop syndrome complex gone awry. Can't record the cops, don't these people understand that if we can't record cops we've just opened the gateway to a huge mess? These idiots can't keep their donut eating a$$es out of trouble and they know it, why else would they pull this sh*t.

Did you see the size of the helmet cam? DUH! I don't know what's scarier the fact that the law says this is illegal or the possibility the cop was so worked up and ready to hurt somebody he really didn't notice.

I don't 'hate' cops, just those who have a power trip like this idiot. Hopping out of an unmarked car WITHOUT identifying himself was just stupid and he should know better.

What would you do if you were in traffic and some moron hops out of a car and pulls a gun on you?!?!

People like this should NOT be given the power of law enforcement, PERIOD. I got a ticket the other day that exemplified how an exchange should go. We were both very polite and professional in our tone and choice of words. I had admittedly broken the law and he was doing his job in giving me a ticket. But he wasn't a jerk about it, he was a decent person.

Sorry for the rant.... I hope they drop these bogus charges, a felony is nothing to be toyed with.

So this guy (the cop who pulled the gun) is an idiot. I don't like all the cop bashing going on here. I have had to call the LEO's (and the EMT's) more than a couple of times over the last twenty years. I am very grateful for these people who put their lives on the line every day and have ALWAYS been there to help me out no matter the time of day or night or where I am or what is going on... I know for a FACT I would not be alive today if it were not for the nameless men and women LEO's who were there for me... just saying, chill the f*** out people...

It's not cop bashing, imho, it's the frustration of the people toward an overzealous law enforcement community. Many are probably fine officers but we need to realize that every time one of these incidents occurs we need to raise heck about it. They are infringing upon our rights as citizens and throwing the 'I'm a cop so it's ok' excuse up anytime they cross a line.

They are employed to serve and protect, not harass and threaten or intimidate. We as a society need to call attention to these events so that we can attempt to ensure they do not reoccur.

If the citizens do not stand up for their civil liberties then who will?

If someone that supposedly graduated from Duke and cannot keep work at a coffee shop, wants a socialist agenda to push forward because it benefits her because she is probably lazy, weak and not very industrious, and probably does have penis on the brain, lots of time on your unemployed hands to think about what you really want. As far is whether or not the size of a penis in some way shape or form determines an attitude toward cops is like saying anyone that is unemployed, liberal, cannot keep work running coffee and make statements about other peoples body parts is the sign of someone with a HUGE sloppy pu$$y, it is a red herring, it doesn't logically follow from one statement to the next...just and example of course.

Lead poisoning for driving/riding a little wild ??? Think about it, that's insane ! Damn near 1/2 my family are cops so I know first hand that they can't stop the "I'm a cop" attitude. Both family and the cops I know through them. Traffic law violations are a bunch of horse sshhiitt ! Look at other countries where traffic runs willy nilly with almost no laws or at least no enforcement of the traffic laws. They do just fine. It is all just a way for the good govt. you voted for to get more of your money. The whole "I'm a cop" thing just happens to be a terrible side-effect of it. Until all cops practice what they preach/enforce they can all kiss my arse. Does anyone remember "We the people" ?
