"...during 1992 Buell was struggling ... 20 Buells scheduled to built in 1993." - 25 Years of Buell
Without H-D, there'd be no XBs, XTs, or 1125s.

The 1125 "could have been" a fantastic bike, but if I want 30 mpg I'll buy a Hyundai. In my opinion, and less than 45 mpg is just plain unacceptable. The current trend toward 100% performance 100% of the time is going to kill the "common sense" in our sport.

Yes, thats why my 2009 1125CR gets 54mpg. Good luck doing a wheelie in a Hundai

I think froggy installs pedals on his motorcycles.
It's the only way I can understand his 54mpg 1125cr, 75mpg Uly, and 100mpg blast

I too would love to see Erik go it alone.
I'd rather see him selling limited run motorcycles in limited dealership network than to see him "working for the man" again.
Something like an American Bimota would be cool... as long as he builds at least one model I can afford.
Heck he seems to be just a few steps away from that option with Eric Buell Racing.

Unfortunately, limited run also means high price point and limited availability.

MOST here would be out of the market before he even started.

How many are willing to pony up $48,000 for a Roehr? It's a great bike, but most here couldn't possibly buy one.

Specialized niche motorcycles seem way more feasible today than '92.
Buell tradition is design, component out-sourcing, and in-house assembly.

I just picked it up and read the articles. It cost the MoFo as much money to shut down Buell as what they invested over the years... what a bunch of MORONS... the Barricuda was weeks away from being sold and produced??? I have no respect for that corporation any more... none. How could they screw over such an innovative American company... they make all this cheap Chinese plastic crap and put the MoFo name on it... man I am pissed all over again...

Does everyone realize that H-D has provided business schools with a whole course on the Fall Rise and Fall of a corporation.

Yup. By what I was told, it was like 98% complete. Just minor details left. I had just finished a minor cosmetic part redesign(but major revisions to make it moldable) for them when I heard the announcement.

Sucks... I had fun working on their parts. And the part I was working on, was initially designed by a Buell Engineer that rode with quite often.

For something from Erik, I would do whatever I could to make it happen. Hell, many people finance $40k cars, how would a bike be different? Hell, I have almost $40k worth (brand new MSRP) of Buell's in my garage.

I know not everyone would be able to do the same.

I won't finance a a 40 k bike or car.. financing thru most financial institutions for m/c is the same as boats. jet skis and atvs which is about 8.5 or 9 percent where an auto loan is about 2 percent or zero percent depending on credit or dealer. I know, i just bought a bike for my wife and really had to search for a good interest rate. By the way it was 4 percent amd i bought a can am spyder. I own a few m/c with a net of over 30k but not just one and just one is financed

Whatever: There is no need to make up that shirt... someone already sells them. And I wear mine every time I find myself anywhere near the vicinity of an HD(spit) dealership.

Tom: Things must've changed since I last financed a motorcycle (1999). The bank viewed a motorcycle loan the same as a car loan and offered the same rate.

That shirt is 30 bucks and the bumper sticker is 6.50... what a rip off... I will go buy me some Hanes men's underwear shirts at 5 bucks each and write on it with a fat Sharpie!!!

I can't wait for the non-compete clause to be over with... I can't wait to see what EriK does next... I can't wait to test ride the latest and greates from East Troy...

EriK will rise from the ashes like a Pheonix... I am pumped... bringing the bike home today and it is sunny, Saturday and up to the sixties today...

Well, it's not an item that is going to sell in VOLUME (like a Britney Spears T-Shirt, for example), so they have to have a higher price in order to turn a profit. I got one as a Christmas present but I wouldn't hesitate to purchase one if I hadn't.

Glitch: Erik is still bound by a non-compete (which I find UTTERLY ridiculous... NOTHING from Erik's mind even REMOTELY competes with the chrome-plated CRAP from HD(spit)).

You know what?? I wonder if the REAL reason Buell stopped making Sport Tourers is because some KNUCKLEHEAD at HD(spit) thought it would detract from Electra Glide sales???

A $40,000 bike doesn't provide sufficient numbers to meet racing homologation rules.

The requirement for 2010 is 3,000 bikes.

At $40,000 each, that's $120,000,000 in sales just to be able to go race in WSB.

"A $40,000 bike doesn't provide sufficient numbers..." Well, that would depend on how fast the bike was. If it was the fastest bike on the track for $40,000 then they might sell a few. Just sayin...

$40,000 would be the retail price for US not the for the track model.

Jaimec- Try not to use "Knucklehead", once upon a time that was a great motor, still one of the most beautiful ones historically IMHO. Today's HD says they're "obsolete", just like my Shovel and my Buell- that makes them "Kewl" in my book. ; )

Char- Go ahead and spend $30 on the shirt, keeping in mind all the Fags buying HD shirts for the same or MORE $$$ EVERY DAMN DAY- T-shirt sales are what's keeping a lot of these dealers out of the red. You'll feel good about it, I'm sure...

And go ahead, polish up your Buell baby with a nice, soft HD shirt- you'll feel good about that too...

I am NOT SORRY about it though... cleaning out my closet of useless hd crap...

Remember the "Great Side-pod Debate" when the 1125 first came out?
The "no full fairing" edict exposed in Steve Anderson's article explains it for those who didn't know.

I have only been able to read Steve A's CW article a bit at a time.
It makes me want to go Postal and I never felt like that even when I actually worked at the Post Office.
