few years ago a few friends and i built an easy go with a gs1000 motor in it. 6 air shocks, 14 inches of suspension travel. 14" mags with bfg's. you could cruise around with it slammed or hit a button and raise it all the way up. i built a 4 link front suspension for it and it had a raptor rearend 5spd hurst truck shifter sticking through the floor. nice stereo.

dont have any pics of it down here with me on my laptop, but ive put some on here before.

thing was a riot untl my friend got drunk one night and decided to take it out. he side swiped a tree. his leg got pinned in between. its held together by alot of screws and metal rods now.

so that one got sold and we built another one. this one stayed electric but we put a shunt in it(its basically like adding a turbo to an electric motor)

we built a fiberglass body for it with a few subs molded in, and some 6x9's and tweeters. an amp, flip screen stereo, another flat screen folds down from the roof and one pops up out of the body work via small electric motor. i mean what else will we use to play playstation on.

the real fun part is the trailer we built for it. its fiberglassed to match the golf cart, and has a wonderbar in it(its the nozzle used at a bar with all the buttons to pour different liquids for mixed drinks and such) we built a cooler with copper line running through it and freon tanks to keep all the liquor bottles that are hooked up to the wonderbar nice and cool. as if that isnt enough, the trailer has a nice platform on the back of it with room to dance on and a nice brass pole...

heres the newest in progress

Treefrog, Use a water cooled twosmoke. You'll tag 140 with less CCs and weight.

A buddy of mine has a gsxr 750 engine to play with and wants to build one of these. He was asking how to set up the clutch and shifting controls. I haven't seen in a video exactly how others set it up, but I told him it would be easiest to have a toe shifter by the left foot and mount the clutch lever to a steering wheel.

Guess we'll figure it out as soon as he finds a go kart frame to experiment with.

i know the best option is a pingel electric shift. then you can easily set it up for paddle shift. and they have a spark interupt feature so you can just bang gears and not worry about clutching while hammering on it.

Why not use various linkage to a hand shifter, and just a different clutch cable to a pedal. It would use a motorcycle shift patter (just push forward to go up a gear, or pull back to go down a gear).

Doesn't seem that difficult. To do paddle shifters you'd need an electric shift setup.

Yeah, I think that the first one was using a paddle shifter arrangement.

basically, because even i seem to end up having both hands on the wheel when driving some of the karts weve built. even shifter karts get out of hand.

we have done some with clutches and hand shifter, but you dont really get full use of the power then because your so busy trying to keep it headed the way you want to go. it takes some muscle to direct the things. not that it cant be done. it is a load of fun set up like that, but its not as fast.

so we do a clutch pedal and electric shift. that way both hands can stay on the wheel. and you only need the clutch pedal when starting and stopping

one hand on the wheel and one on a shifter feels awesome until your really cranking on them and its all out of shape as your banging gears

At full tilt boogie a shifter kart is a hand full.

I'd love to have one of these monsters.
