That's definitely neat - $4,450 though, damn.

While the company has gone under, I bought a Go Motorboard (for about $150 new, got a clearance deal) and have been playing around with it a bit. Mine only has the NiMH battery (originally $300-400), but the Lithium Ion models were going for around $800. While you do have to stand and not sit, it is essentially made for the same purposes - getting that last mile or two out of the way in an urban environment and can be carried onto public transportation.

One reason the Go is coveted is because of motorized vehicles being banned on many walkways. Riding the YIKE bike would be dangerous on many American roads (though less of an issue in big cities), and illegal on many American sidewalks. The Go has a hidden drive system and you can always kick it along if you see the fuzz coming so it looks like a standard Razor Scooter.

Unfortunately the polyurethane wheels allow only for paved road use, and once the sidewall wears from the rear drive system your wheel is done. I am currently experimenting with using polyurethane sealant to try and build the walls back up to make them usable again. I have fashioned a mold of sorts, and need to create a means to be able to evenly sand down the new sidewalls. Then come the durability and wear tests.....

Every time I take it out to show someone they go "big deal", a razor scooter. Then I unfold it and zip around at 10+ mph and suddenly they're like "let me try".
