This came up on Google Alerts. Does anyone know which trade publication they're referencing? Link to the story has been squelched.

There is a new, more detailed article just out and a few outlets that have picked it up referenced here:

That still kills me every time I read it.

"Harley-Davidson is seeking to attract younger buyers..." - "while divesting itself of Buell..."

Morons.

Thank you Elivs. Thought I'd lost my mind for a moment.

Very upsetting that HD would rather throw away $125 million than sell the company and make some money. I wonder if the board of directors is paying attention or just playing with their rubber stamps.

Thanks Froggy!

That's the article by Alan Cathcart that was referenced by Kcfirebolt and Elvis.

Good read, but sad...very sad.

In order to attract younger riders, Harley DUMPS the Buell product. Wonder who made the smarter move; Harley... or BMW?

Harley = Dumkopfs!!!

Asr/Froggy, thanks for the whole article, a lot easier to read than the AMD site.

Nice to see this bit in the press:

amd

Spending $125m to save face from Buell doing well with the 1125R could cost them a lot more in the long run.

Interesting that Cathcart says the offer did come from Bombardier Inc and that they would conduct the sale through BRP/Rotax, same as the earlier AMCN piece.

I really hope this article causes some heat for H-D Inc.
