Tell me about it! Im Chicago on business and this was the nicest day ive seen since November in Iowa! Being 6 Hours from my bike sucks. Whats even worse is I fly to Charlotte tomorrow and is suposed to be 70 there all week!!! AArrrggghhhhh!!!!
We hit 55 here today and did a nice ride. If it's nice tomorrow may try to get out again. My goal is to ride at least one day every month and this year we missed Dec and Feb - too flippin cold.
I went for my first ride this season yesterday. I has only about 20 minutes available, but I couldn't resist the (relatively) warm sunshine. The 1125 coughed a little, popped a few times, then fired up strong. It must have been a little sleepy after having slept since late November without a tender.
I finally got the driveway shovelled out yesterday (I'm in PA) and went for the first ride since early January. There's something that's just so enjoyable about riding past giant banks of snow - it's like you're doing something illicit.
On a more serious note, I saw the first crash of the season and it was a bad one (kid went down doing at least 80 when he threw the bike into the left lane to stick it to some cars on the highway and nailed the throttle). For the less experienced riders, you should know that not only are the roads in the northern states covered with cinders, road salt and slick patches BUT tires are not going to have the same amount of grip when they're cold (especially new tires). You can ride fast in this weather but you have to be very smooth with what you're doing.
