Mark, wasn't that the second year you and I attended? Camped at the back on the slope in the mud and such, right near the little bridge? I don't think any of us reached a dry point that weekend. It reminded me more of the times I used to go dirt bike camping when I was in my late teens. It was a great time though. I will be delivering a truck today, my ride back at noon will be at about 36F. The thing that concerns me is the last few days has been below freezing all day and at night, with a bit of snow and some drizzle. The road is partly in the woods and shadows, it could be icy. The good thing is I will get a good look at it while driving the truck there. When I lived in Florida I used to camp in the Ocala NF. One thing for sure, the infield at Daytona in winter will always beat the heck out of the NF in sweltering summer heat and humidity. In the winter you don't have the sand fleas, spiders, roaches, and those damn mosquitos' keeping you up all night playing their loud music and calling in for landing runway clearances. |

I'm sure we can figure something out. For sure we will be found Thursday evening in the campground area located on line with Mark's post above. We will probably hit there earlier in the day to drop the tents and extraneous stuff that we will be totin'. Best thing to do at this point is find out where Court is sponsoring lunch. We can ALL meet there!.................................................. .................................................. . |

I'm packin' and prepin', just gotta get life to cooperate. We shall see what Monday and Tuesday bring. The weather is not going to be pretty for a Wednesday launch date. The high temp will be 38 and snow is forecast at 70%. And that is here in Knoxville Tn. It has to be worse in Ohio! |

According to TWC Atlanta may not be far enough! Damn this weather! The daytime highs for Daytona are mid fifties for the end of the week. Still working the turn on a business thing to. Fate is playing a big part in my ability to GTFOOH for a few days. It is kind of right up against the clock. No stress here! But I'm still setting up for the game. |

I will say its a 99.99% chance that I wont make it. I have a funeral to go to on Wednesday and I need to be there for my wife.... plus business it starting to fire on 7 cylinders... up from 4 and I need to strike while the iron is hot.... If the weather was looking great I would attempt it... but its kinda looking like crap.... |

Sorry to hear that Mark. Glad to see business picking up though. So there is still a chance? From all angles, it looks like mine will be in the back of the ole' pickup for the trip. Likely to land in Tampa at my son's place and ride over, not sure on that yet. Might just come straight in. Still riding the clock on my ability to go. Tick-Tock. Mark there is room for two on the truck, but I understand the new circumstances, again, sorry to hear that, my condolences to your wife and her family. |

sorry to hear about your situation mark, my condolences to your wife and her family and friends. vern, keep us informed. adrian, right now i'm gonna try and get outta work at around 9 or so and depending on how late paint gets started, i might try to meet him up around altoona maybe if he's still taking the same way across the state. are you still leaving around the same time that you were thinking about. |

Mark: One thing a good pilot knows is when to call a "go around" . . . . stay home, be with your wife and family and focus there rather than allowing that 0.01% to divert you into needless mental multi-tasking. Remember what we learned . . . . focus on the important target. I suspect next year is going to be more exciting anyway. Our thoughts are with you, your wife and your family. Court |

When is lunch Court? This is the main focus for my leaving time. I am loading the truck Tuesday. Heading out sometime Wednesday. I need to know when and where lunch is. I am about 11 - 12 hours from Daytona. |

Right now it is looking like having the truck in Daytona will be a good idea for camping. The night time temps will be in the upper 30's. A bit of wind and that could be nasty. Just guessing, a straight shot to the track might be in order. After all, spooning with Mark is down to 99.99827% of not happening. Well at least that are the chances he can make the trip. Did I say spooning.....that sounds so nasty, like something Ft_bstrd would say, I meant 'staying warm' somehow. Oh yeah, Tim, mebby you'll want to sleep in my doubled tent now? Well, looks like I'm going to make the drive from MD to my folks' house in St Augustine on Thursday, and crash there Thursday night. Should be at the track Friday AM-ish. I'll pack all my camping gear just in case...but if I'm feeling wimpy, I'll just commute back and forth from my folks' place |

hey paint, from what you mentioned before about taking the southern road along the forest, i figured the best bet for me would be to try and hook up with you around altoona since i'll be coming strait from work in mulberry. i'm thinking i can get up there by around 1030 if traffic ain't bad. |

This sucks... I was looking forward to going this year. Between a broken leg, totaled bike and having to take maternity pictures on Saturday I can't go. More so the pics. I'd get my ass kicked if I went to Daytona. I can at least drive a car now... |

Adrian, What time and which route are you going? I am trying to leave early enough to be in Daytona by lunch! I typically take 50 to Groveland, 19 north to Howie in the Hills, then I forget the number road into Tavares/Eustis. Get on 44 in Eustis to Deland, 92 in Deland into the Speedway. However, I'm flexible. I enjoy riding and am open to any route. |

jesse, don't feel to bad. i'm just going for the afternoon. our 28th is on saturday and although she says she doesn't care if i spend the night, it wouldn't be a good way to start the day off with if you know, of which you do, what i mean. haven't seen vern for a while and looking forward to meeting a few others over there though. |
