You guys are killing me. In 1996, I was at my friend's Shop (I was working Swing Shift)one afternoon, and listening to everybody discussing what arrangements they'd made, where they were staying, etc., and I decided that I was going to ride to Daytona. I needed a break from winter, and the job could go to hell. I called the Union Hall and told the B.A. that I had a family emergency, and I had to leave town, and I'd be gone for a week or so; packed my bike and got on I-95 South. It was a tough ride; it was 28° and snowing on the way down, and I spent hours questioning my sanity. (a recurring theme while riding to Daytona - my ride in 2006 was even tougher) But when I arrived, I was surrounded by a half million motorcycles. I took demo rides (I rode an S2-T and fell in love with Buells), I went through the IMS show, I went to a motorcycle demolition Derby, I saw the Short Track, I took a tour of Crane Cams, I ate lots of free food; I did more stuff than I can remember, and it was all involving motorcycles! I can't go this year. Terri and I are going to ride to Homecoming and Oregon this June. If I lose my job, I won't be able to do that. But the Call is still there. If I could only win the Lottery... |

What! 300 what for what? Likely a fair deal at a dealership though, Lemmme check into that for ya. I can walk you through it on the phone this weekend if you like. Even at that, you could possibly eat that much of Court's offer to offset that cost. |

when do you think you'll leave on the 5th aeholton Probably eat breakfast at the Flyin J at I-75 and 52. Could meet you there around 7-8 am. Time is pretty flexible, as I will have done all my Daytona site-seeing on Sunday. I would like to get there by lunch to try to do some kind of meet-up with other Badwebbers for lunch? |

Hey Mark, what would you pick as a date and time for leaving? Last year's program wasn't too bad.(I think I could leave a couple of hours earlier though). Heated gloves will make this trip so much better. That is of course if we can still go. |

I think the race starts at 5 on Friday night. From what I have read some where on Badweb, it will be on TV at 6. They are showing it with a hour delay just in case they have a red flag or two... lets hope not. |

Hey Vern... it all depends on the weather. I really want to ride... but last year it was 22 deg. at my house Thursday morning. I was thinking that I may leave Wednesday morning or after work and head to your place. We could head out then or Thursday morning... It should take about 12 hours to get there from your neck of the woods. I'm easy... |

That would work for me, but I wouldn't want to miss Court's fine offer of vittles Thursday afternoon. |

If you and Mark are coming . . . we'll wait. Maybe we can all have lunch on Friday before the race that night. |

if i do anything adrian, i would have to leave from work. which i could sneak out of there around nineish. i'm working over in mulberry and if nothing else i can finagle my way up to i-4 somewhere and then go from there. i used to be able to work 4-10's but after the first of the year the big boss wanted me to do the 4-9's and a 4. but by sticking around and extra half hr on thursday and getting to work around 530 that will get me out at a decent time. |

Wasn't planning on taking I-4 Neil. Usually run up to Hwy 50 then north on 19 from Groveland. Then 44 out of Eustis to Deland. From Deland we take 92 in to the speedway. |

In '05 I rode my City X with my son and his in laws from Tampa to Orlando on I4. From there we walked them nearly all of the way to Daytona for several traffic incidents on both sides the whole way. It sucked, that year it was eighty degrees in February. I found it was easier to get off and walk it fifty feet every ten minutes or so. |

I was out today twice for a few minutes, so nice to see 50F + temps!! Had the hand twitching on the throttle as I was leaving a stop light. Just as I was going to wack it into the air I saw a police car with radar in the other lane in plain sight. No air lofting today. |

Doh Entry list still shows 1125R. Anyone racing a Buell in Superbike? James Gang is DSB only, right? |
