Says on the bottle here, "Discard unused portion one week after opening.". Is that true? Don't think it matters but its HD DOT 4.

Dot 3 is hydroscopic, and will become contaminated within a few weeks after opening.

Dot 4 essentially dot 3.

Dot 5 is not hydroscopic, which sounds good, but it causes moisture to run down your brake lines and rot your brake pistons instead of being absorbed into the fluid for easy disposal when you flush your brake fluid.

If it's in a sealed container & it's more than half full I keep it. If there's less than half I chuck it.

As stated it's hydroscopic but the small amount of moisture in the vacated space of the bottle, compared to the amount of fluid remaining is what you have to consider.

The DOT 4 looks bad on the hydraulic clutch side on the 1125CR after 10K miles. Change out soon with the 12K service.

How often do most of you folks change out your brake fluid? I have never done it on a car/truck unless broken line or master cyclnder.
