I've worked for Charlotte Scale Co. 14 years now. Install, repair, and calibrate all types of measuring equipment. When i lived in WI. i worked at a scale manufacturer for about 4 years. Other than farm hand work when i was younger it's been all scales and i am bored with it! Not a good time for a career change so i guess i'm stuck for now. |

High School: Mowed Yards Delivered Papers Cropped Tobacco USAF: SIGINT Intercept Operator Signals Analyst Flight Officer Operations Superintendent 1st Sgt DoD Contractor: Network Operations Watch Officer Enterprise Architecture Information Operations Civil Servant: Information Operations (Computer Network Operations) at HQ NORAD and HQ USNORTHCOM I have not found anything that makes me want to go to work everyday since I was a 1st Sgt. Sometimes I am happy to just have a job, other days I think about just walking out the door. Some of you have some really neat jobs. I think I would like to blow stuff up as well. I like being a Buell Enthusiast but the pay is not that great. In 2019 I can retire again. I do not want to do this job that long. |

I tell people what to do at my job. Some of them can't seem to think for themselves...those type don't usually make it. And then I'm in the Navy Reserves after serving active duty... And then I go to school. Somewhere in there I have a bike to rebuild...I wonder if I'll ever get time to do that. |

I'm a technical writer (hard to believe I've been doing that for 20 years now). I shut down and sold off equipment I had been using for my location audio business this past year. Too much time spent away from the family for me. Plus being a boom operator in particular, is a young man's game. |

Think, Point, Click, Think, Point, Click, Think, Point, Click, Think, Point, Click... +30 years architectural drafting and design. Right now I work from home for a commercial glass company and I'm networked into the main office 150 miles away in St. Pete, and into the shop in Clearwater. Pre-engineering, troubleshooting, etc. for the project managers when a job is being bid. We have software that draws the storefront and curtain wall frames for me. I take that and do a set of shop drawings for the contract document part of the job. After we get actual opening sizes I tweak the drawings, optimise material and then I generate a cut program for the saw and barcodes, and another for the CNC, which goes to the shop after I've gone through and checked it's right. Two 24" screens, a decent PC here, another PC in the office to remote into, VOIP phone linked directly to the main switchboard, (ext. 109), Firewall network router... I only go up north every couple months. My PC on left plays muzak during the day while I work... It's also my home phone.

I think it's interesting that the large majority of folk that have posted on this thread are involved in mechanical/technical occupations. Is it because of the "hands on" accessibility of Buells? In that you don't need a shedload of special tools & a degree in electronics to work on one. Or just that we like the way it rumbles? I'd bet most are V8 addicts too! |
