I think the Bush Administration erroneously believed Reid to be a copy cat wanna be.

I believe they underestimated his involvement in a larger plot given the magnitude of the 9/11 attack. His methods were simple and primitive. It has taken 8 years to understand the threat.

GWB does. OHB doesn't.

Wait... Are you telling me that the Daly Show has moved to Fox News?

I have nothing of value to add to this thread, simply because there is nothing of value in the arguments being made against GWB, Fox News, etc. Just school yard trash talk. My biggest fear is that some of you actually believe the trash talk you are throwing around. Here's to hoping that you are just having fun on the GoreWeb and realize the futility of your claims.

A major bummer today to hear that Iran is claiming 20% enrichment of uranium, with the capability to go further, and the White House defense strategy seems to be:

Our defense against threats of conventional nuclear or non conventional radiological attacks against the U.S. or Israel will consist of... hoping they are lying.

God help us.

The problem I have with the Tea Party movement is that it's portrayed by the "liberal media" as some big, grassroots movement. By "liberal media" I mean mostly Fox but CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, etc. are also guilty. They reported on the Tea Party convention as if it were a Democratic or Republican convention. There were some 500 or so people there and they paid $500+ to attend the keynote speech. That's not a political party! That's a for profit corporation. But that's not how the Tea Party is portrayed by the "liberal media". They portray it as a grass roots political movement. It's not. Maybe my problem is more with the "liberal media" than it is with the Tea Party movement. The Tea Party movement is, from my what I see, concerned primarily with big corporate profits, not with the concerns of the majority of the people. If the "liberal media" would just be honest about that I wouldn't have a problem.

The Tea Party is most definitely a grass roots movement. A friend of mine was involved in organizing a gathering last summer. It was almost comical talking to her about it. Various websites trying to organize. None of them being an 'official' website. Just various concerned folks that don't like the direction the country has taken that are getting behind the idea of the Tea Party movement. Not all that unlike the original 'Tea Party' movement. When that one finally got organized it launched some amazing things though.

I'm not sure if you don't like it being portrayed as big or as grassroots. There's no doubt that it started as a grassroots movement that is just now getting itself organized. As for how big it gets, I have no idea. There's no doubt it's growing. I hope the Republicans will embrace them. They are after all pushing the conservative values that the Republican party seems to have gotten away from lately.

Why do you have a problem with them having a fund raising speech? It's done all the time by all political parties. Your criticism in illogical.

WOW!

People actually still believe Obama is a Muslim?

What rock did you people crawl out from under? He has been going to a christian church for over 20 years and is still a Muslim? That is some strange strain of Islam!

Reading your article it sounds like BO doesn't know what he is. He did claim to attend his previous church for about 20 years without knowing what was going on there. He has been documented as a Muslim when he was attending school. He was also born into a Muslim family which either makes him Muslim or marked for death.

So what do you think he is? He seems unsure.

His family in Kenya consisted of Luo elders that were shamanistic healers... one of his grandfathers converted to Islam for some time... that doesn't mean he is a Muslim, however.

My parents are Protestant and I am Buddhist... what my parents do doesn't automatically make me into a Christian!

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and _americas/us_elections/article4902476.ece

I am not saying being a Muslim is bad and being a Christian is good. I am not either, myself. What I am saying is we should respect all spiritual paths and not propogate sensationalist lies about anyone, wether public or private figures.

I am just shocked at how ignorant some people are. That is all.

I think radical fundamentalism of any kind whether it is about your freaking lucky underwear or your religion is the danger here.

I think the ignorance comes from the lack of conviction from BO himself. I'm ignorant of everyone's faith if they can't tell me what their faith is. That's not my fault.

I dated a girl that came from Kenya. Good times getting her up to speed on living in the US in the '70s!

The Tea Party is most definitely a grass roots movement.

It is most definitely not a grass roots movement. Three names were heavily involved in the organization of the Tea Party movement: Freedom Works, Americans for Prosperity and Fox News Corporation. None of them are grassroots by any stretch of the imagination. These are multi-billion dollar organizations that are primarily concerned with protecting corporate profit interests.

Remember the April 15 Tea Parties? Well, guess who heavily promoted them for weeks on end and even had correspondents "reporting" from various locations? Fox News Corporation!

Same thing with the 9/12 protests and other Tea Party events. The fact that Fox News Corporation promotes and acts as a media outlet for the Tea Party means it is definitely not grass roots.

Why do you have a problem with them having a fund raising speech?

I don't, but the "liberal media" never portrayed it that way. The "liberal media" (and this includes more than just Fox) reported it as the "Tea Party Convention". They reported on it as if it was the Tea Party version of the Democratic or Republican National Convention. It wasn't.

Not hard to find out WHERE John is getting his information:

MediaMatters.org

"Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.

Yep. No bias there.

John, where do you get your information from? You have named every News source as LIBERAL MEDIA.

I'm being sarcastic. I always put "liberal media" in quotes because there is no liberal media. The liberal media is a myth. All major media outlets in the U.S. are heavily conservative. Radio, print, broadcast, cable, you name it. The major media outlets in America always support corporate interests over the interests of the American people. Their job is to sell product so their corporate backers can realize the highest possible profits. They don't waste time reporting on issues that affect the American people. They keep the American people in a constant state of fear. Fear that your underarms smell too much. Fear that if you catch a cold you won't be able to perform your job well. Fear that you won't be able to perform well with members of the opposite sex because your car, or your clothes, or your furniture is not good enough. Why aren't you happy or sexually satisfied or loved enough? The corporate backers have a solution to all your problems and the media sells it to you. Why aren't you successful or wealthy enough? The corporate backers have an answer for that too. It's because of ACORN. It's because of poor and weak and powerless people. They must become your enemies! The corporate backers want to make sure that you pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. And the "liberal media" makes sure that you don't.

Fox did report on the tea party movement. The other networks ignored it.

There is a difference between reporting on something and promoting something. Fox promoted the Tea Party events long before they happened. That first photo I posted is from March 2009, long before April 15. Fox was telling you the list of Tea Party events. Then, when April 15 came, Fox "reported" that people showed up for April 15 Tea Party events. But Fox News itself promoted the events.

What if you sent out hundreds of invitations for people to appear for a wedding or something? Then you "report" the fact that people showed up at a certain location at a certain time? You sent out the damn invitations! You're not reporting the news, you're making the news happen! Don't you get that?

M2me, so you are saying the conservative corporate media sold the obama package to American people and they bought out of fear due to the conservative medias persistent trashing of the former president?

So that is why we have a president who promised to champion for the poor
and work against corporate greed but its not working out like that?

Kucinich would have at least tried to deliver those things.

Sort of. The conservative media sold Obama as being a radical liberal who would bring sweeping change to government. The people ate it up. I've been a long time Obama supporter. But I've never thought of Obama as a radical liberal. He is slightly less conservative than others. That is change. But it's incremental change, not sweeping, radical change. The conservative media felt comfortable supporting Obama but they gussied him up a little bit. They knew that the people wanted change but they also knew that Obama was no real threat to corporate interests.

So that is why we have a president who promised to champion for the poor
and work against corporate greed but its not working out like that?

Bingo! You got it! Our political environment has become so far to the right (thanks in large part to the "liberal media") that even a moderate conservative is considered a radical liberal. Teddy Roosevelt was more liberal than Obama is.

Given the ideology of the majority of the population (75%), Obama is FAR more liberal than the majority will accept.

The 2008 election was NOT between a conservative candidate and a liberal candidate. The election was between a slightly right of center centerist and a far-left leftist being presented as a left of center centerist.

The radical swing in Presidential approval rating from election to present reflects the realization that the liberal media white washed Obama's true nature. The 75% who are either very conservative, conservative, or moderate reject Obama and his political direction.

Aggregate Right Track, Wrong Track Results Plot

Obama is not less radical than he was presented. Obama is far MORE radical than was presented and the buyer's remorse is compounding daily.
