I was thinking of dropping in for this also. After looking at the ACTUAL list of items being sold, it looks like mostly furniture, office type equipment, tools, assembly tables and the fixture equipment. Notice that NOWHERE in the list of sale items are there ANY motorcycle parts (other than the bikes being sold) or posters, photos, etc. So, based on the list, all the bins of parts and motorcycle components, photos, pictures, etc. are NOT sale items. I'd be surprised if the motor company doesn't have the place completely cleaned out of all MC related parts by the time of the sale. Would be nice to know what kind of prices they're looking to get for all this stuff.
what a shame. so much there, so much history there. I wonder if any other manufacturers will show up ahead of time, or the time of? The new Indian folks bought a lot of the old Indian stuff, leaving only the small stuff for regular folks. That would have to of been so sad, packing and sorting thru this stuff and putting in inventory areas like that.
almost makes you wish that you could form a line around the place and not let people get inside to bid..
someone keep us updated on this sale, and what you see inside. Really sad.
I don't think any actual graphics are involved. These are just the fixtures used for locating the decals on the bikes, to get a consistent location. It only makes sense that H-D would remove any parts first, since they are still selling Buell parts, and don't want anything not production getting out. Anything H-D could use would naturally already be gone, since they already owned it. If I was close by, I would definitely go, but doesn't sound like anything worth a long road trip unless for sentimental reasons. It may be emotional to a lot of us, but it is just business for H-D in the end...
The only thing I have left of the harley davidson brand is a pair of gloves...... nor will I ever have anything again of hd's, you know the harley fag thing finally caught up with them.... kind of fitting, as they mostly are just posers, with store-bought attitude.....lol... Well for those that I'v pizzed off, who cares.... and for the rest of you I bid a fond farwell to the Buell folks, stay united friends, I'm off riding rice again....Catch me if you can, hope ya all stay healthy, see ya.
Out of being sentimental the one thing, out of all the items being liquidated, that I'd truly love to become the new owner of is this little, forlorn red press:
Why might you ask? I remember using this press back in the day to press in bearing races into RS and RSS swingarms and frames. From the looks of it, the tooling to install said bearing races is still hanging 'round under the press.
Sure, I'd love to get my hands on one of the bike lifts (I know I'd make darn good use of it, just as well as the press) and some other things, but for sentimentality that red press just does it for me. For all I know that press could've been part of Buell from the beginning even though I first laid eyes and hands upon it in April of 1991.
Just_ziptab, thanks for the link. It seems that HD has been very successful in turning Harley riders against every other brand in the world. How small their minds must be to not see the innovations of a Buell. BMC was a true American success story but only history will reflect the poor decisions by HD. I am hoping that history comes soon rather than later.
This auction makes me sick all over again. I am sure there are only a few pieces worth having after HD is through picking through it. If I understand this correctly, I cannot begin to know how the former employees that may be working in the same area will feel as people pick through what was once a proud Motorcycle Company. I hope one of the local Buellers can get the poster from the 20th and preserve it for future Buell riders to look at and learn about the history of Buell and Buell riders. How cool would it be to have a museum dedicated to Buell Motorcycles. I bet there is some legal issue than would forbid that but I just think a company like BMC needs to have something like this to let others know about this great company that produced “World Class Motorcycles.”
How would anyone feel if they saw the 20th Homecoming poster hanging in the HD museum?
HD and the HD faithful talk a great deal about the "American Dream," "Patriotism" and "Loyalty" but I have a feeling they just do not understand the meaning behind any of these terms. HD Supports the Troops when it makes them a profit. During Desert Storm they went on strike at the York Plant. (The York Plant made bomb casings that were used in the war). Draw your own conclusions.
I'm so damn happy I have 2 Buells sitting in the garage! I'm glad I got mine. I'm glad I have got to meet and ride with some of the best people around.
Owning a Buell has done a LOT for my mental health!
I just hope that someday I/we will be able to buy a new one....
"I'm glad I have got to meet and ride with some of the best people around. "
Well said, I feel sorry for the people that will never know how great the people on Buells are because of some preconceived notion they have about what a motorcycle and motorcycle rider should be.
