I'm a big fan of passiveaggressivenotes.com and some of the best ones are the ones left on cars. I decided to make my own for distribution to double parkers and their ilk, what do you think?

Nevrenuf - me too...but have you noticed that for some reason, even if there are like 4-5 spots free on either side of your car, that someone parks right on the edge of the space next to your car and you see a tiny mark from their door opening into yours? Same thing happens to me at the movies - I go to the early shows on Sunday mornings or weekdays, grab a spot far away from mouthbreathers/talkers/snack-crunchers and some douche decides to sit right beside/behind/in front even though there are sooooo many more spaces. Am I weird for having these boundaries? Methinks I have spent too much time in an urban environment and need a year or two on my own in the country.

I love to park like a douche on my Blast. We have dedicated motorcycle parking at my job, and occasionally a douche in a cage will park in the MC spots. I will get off the bike and roll it as close as I can to the car without touching it. One day I found a note on a napkin, horribly misspelled saying something like " you, next time i will brake yur shit"

Years ago where I used to work there was a parking lot closer to the main gate that had a limited number of spaces. I would pull into it to see if there was a spot prior to going to the next lot down.(a quarter mile away) One day I pulled in and there was a spot. The cars on either side were both over the parking line with the driver side facing in. I got out and paced off the distance between the cars. Looks like maybe 6 extra inches at the most. So, I pulled in and climbed out the back window on my jeep. Gotta love big tires and nerf bars.

The "Ugly Duckling Rule", The nicer your vehicle the more hideous the car that will park next to it. This also directly relates to how close said vehicle will park to it.

I always park my bike diagonally in a spot. I get bitched at all the time. "Some old or handicapped person could've parked there", well, is not that what handicapped spots are for?

Normally though, I park in the striped part of lots, where it defines where the spots are from the rest of the drive. That way people don't bitch for taking a spot for a little motorcycle, they just bitch cause it's not a parking spot. Which is where I bring up the handicapped thing, "Would you rather I parked in a spot that an old person or a handicapped person could've parked?" Very hypocritical but no one has ever bitched back.

I find way too many large vehicles in the compact only spaces at school and it makes me crazy.

Ourdee, I did something similar in my metro. Same situation as you except these two just thought their cars were too nice to be parked in only one space. It was a slight decline to a curb in my case. I put it in neutral and pushed it into place. I had no more than an inch on each side of my car. Kinda regret not taking a picture.

Can some explain to me why so many people feel the need to back into parking spots in a parking garage.... is it a southern thing or cultural thing.... a I can get out faster after work mindset ... you may get out of work faster but you take forever when you come to work parking backwards and then you slow me down .... plus you aren't good enough to stay inside the lines and therefore screw the amount of cars we can get in ..... blah blah blah..... my wife has been bitching at me for commenting on poor drivers behavior and what not... so I have been bottling for a few months now...

thanks... fell much better.... they are just comments I am not really harboring all this anger ... I swear....a lot... : )

oh I almost forgot.... a few years back while driving around town.... I was sitting at a stop light and while waiting at the stop light this late 90's black Honda Accord 2 door drives by with a early 20's male driving at the wheel and spray painted in white down the side of his car on the passenger side said " I PARK LIKE CRAP" from the rear bumper to the front bumper.... I almost lost it as he went by... I had to wonder if it had just happened and he didn't know it was there or what..... funniest damn thing thou... wish I had the balls to do that.... I used to live next to a church and people would park right across my driveway every other month..... that would have made me feel so much better back then..... "I PARK LIKE CRAP "

I am still laughing ......

Years ago when I used to run all over Europe for a UK firm, we lived in a flat in the middle of town. So I'd drop the semi & bobtail the unit (a 4x2 cabover with a 410 Cummins E14) home. I could just squeeze the unit into a car parking space with about an inch each side. Yes the other residents loved me, NOT.
One monday morning I returned to the semi which I'd left in a parking bay alongside a road in front of some offices, to find some arsehole had parked his car with the bonnet UNDERNEATH the front of the semi. Handbrake & steering lock on, wheels pointing sideways & locked it & left it. I spent about half an hour trying to find the owner without success, so I attached a load strap & dragged it, bouncing & squealing it's tyres, about 50 yards down the road. Left it half on the sidewalk half on the road.
Just as I finished hooking up a guy came running up & started shouting at me so I feigned ignorance so he could work himself into a proper rage yelling & screaming, this (unfortunately for him) attracted the attention of 2 cops who had been ticketing his car for being illegally parked.
I thought the guy was going to explode, one of the police municipal took me aside & told me they'd seen him park & leave the car so they'd parked up in another carpark across the road to watch the fun.

Someone does a poor job of parking and some here would wish their children to become drug addicted prostitutes?

Do you really think about what you are communicating to others? Are you really that miserable?

Regardless, the vulgar hateful language has no place on this family oriented forum. Please avoid posting any miserableness like that on BadWeB.

When I was in college I had a paper with several business card sized messages on it and would run it off whenever I needed some more. It had a picture of Mickey Mouse giving the finger and the caption was, "Next time leave me a can opener so I can get into my ++++ car".

Statistically, you're less likely to get into a parking lot fender bender if you back into a parking spot.
At least that's what the people at my old employer said. I had a company truck and it was policy to always back into parking spaces.

Can some explain to me why so many people feel the need to back into parking spots in a parking garage.... If you drive A truck for A lining you are usually told to back into parking spots. It's safer than baking out. Also turning radius is smaller backing in. But most people that do that drive like sh%t. Myself I can back into A spot as fast as going forward if it's A tight fit.

when learning how to drive, how do they tell you how to park in between two vehicles. back in, right. just because it's easier.

huh.... who knew....

In Driver Ed. I wasn't taught to back into side to side spots, but parallel spots.... which it seems most new drivers also lack any skill in....

I don't understand why backing into a spot is safer.... when you walk up to your parked vehicle you can look around prior to getting in and see what is there and plan accordingly easier, verses driving by and briefly looking and then backing in.... but maybe I am over anal-ysing the topic....

thanks for the comments, I didn't expect any... who knew...

oh wait one more thought... do you back into a spot in the Wal-mart parking lot???? If not, why not.... and I don't mean the diagonal parking lots that are directional, or are supposed to be, to maximize traffic flow....

wow...the wife might be right, I may be running a little tight these days.... huh

all the best...

Cheers-pete

I used to work for a company that required you to back in on their property.

Backing into the space, you know there's no one there. Backing out, you can't see oncoming traffic.

Backing is forbidden where I work, Too dangerous. They won't even put backup alarms on the trucks, since you aren't supposed to ever back up.

Of course, that's just so they can blame the driver if he hits something. He was doing a bad thing, forbidden by policy, so it's all his fault.

Now they do have rear view cameras on the "2ton" collection trucks, since they have to back up to the dock several times a day....but that doesn't count.

The real deal is there are too many backing accidents, since Postal vehicles have diddle visibility & too many mirrors in the drivers line of sight.

So, we are supposed to back into parking spots if there is no thru space to go. Backing out is when you get hit by traffic, and backing in is a slow careful process, where, after looking directly to be sure that the spot is clear, everything should be stationary. And, if you hit something it's your fault, since backing is forbidden.

As to the notes, I like the Mr T note, that's funny. I've seen other funny ones, and the best...well....

You are trying to evoke an emotional response. If you really want to change their behavior, I would think you want "chagrin" "mild amusement" and some, not too much, "shame".

You don't want them to feel threatened, or really angry, since, the perverse sorts of humans we are, that will not lead to improved performance for the cretins who park like selfish gits.

Also, there are the crybabies who would take a "scary" note that offended their fragile ego's and report it to the police. ( who will laugh, usually, and pretend to care, but might have to respond if the parking jerk knows the town council or someone in authority.) The kind of crybaby that would report you, is likely to be well known in local govt. You don't think you're the first he's been easily offended by, do you?

There is a woman where I work who, on three separate occasions, parked so close to me that I could not get into my car and had to put it in neutral from the passenger side and push it out of the parking place (I'm too d**m big to climb over the console in a Focus). I really thought she was doing it on purpose until I saw her try to park one morning and realized that she just really, really, can't drive. I'm not mad about it any more.
