Complete twattery to fine a man for natural instincts like going very fast using a product perfectly designed for that task. Absolute twattery.

Dang! I'll stop crying about my traffic fines now. For a little while, anyway.

Coming soon to the US no doubt - traffic fines based on your economic status. What will they think of next?

They're doing it already. I'm finding that red light s'cameras are more prevelant in neighborhoods w/ money.

That's only because the "monied" are the ones bitching about speeds past their mansions...and they have their representatives' ear on the matter (or they live next door).

I kind of like the idea. A fine is supposed to hurt, or it isn't a penalty. What's a $100 speeding ticket to a guy that has millions? Make it hurt him as much as it hurts the rest of us.

Chicago's red light cameras don't seem to be correlated with neighborhood income.

What's really interesting, is that the cameras seem to have a negative impact on traffic safety. Many of the monitored intersections actually have more accidents, compared to when they didn't have cameras.

That's because they're not there for safety sake. Yellow lights are shortened to game the system and cause more tickets, and therefore, more accidents too.
