Danny Glover, Jesse Jackson, and other activists talk to Lloyd Grove about disappointment in the African-American community with the president’s first year. Danny Glover heaved a sigh when I asked him recently what he thought of President Obama’s performance so far. It wasn’t a sigh of relief. “I think the Obama administration has followed the same playbook, to a large extent, almost verbatim, as the Bush administration. I don’t see anything different,” the activist movie actor said of Obama’s policies in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Middle East. “On the domestic side, look here: What’s so clear is that this country from the outset is projecting the interests of wealth and property. Look at the bailout of Wall Street. Why not the bailout of Main Street?” “He may be just a different face, and that face may happen to be black—and if it were Hillary Clinton, it would happen to be a woman,” says Danny Glover. “But what choices do they have within the structure?” There is more in the article is here: http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/200 9-12-15/has-obama-abandoned-blacks George W Bush has done more for Africans than probably any other president. Its not covered I guess because its an inconvenient truth. |

Good, maybe the left will stay home and not come out in strong numbers on election day. |

Not good. I don't share your political views, but I care about our precious right to vote. It is a right that must be exercised, and to hope that a good number of citizens stay home on election day is to hope that the ideals of the American dream go down the toilet. Be careful. And by the way, W did a fair amount for Africans (in Africa), but did very little for African-Americans. |

I don't think skin color affects how F'ed up this administration is performing. To suggest that race has something to do with it makes you seem small minded. The fact that they are crooks is about the color - green. |

And by the way, W did a fair amount for Africans (in Africa), but did very little for African-Americans. He helped Africans not because of their color, but because of their need. He did little specifically for African-Americans because that would have been, always has been, always will be racist. Anytime African-Americans want to become Americans they are welcome. I despise the liberal idea of carving our population into small segments that can be bribed for power. It really is vile. |

It is a right that must be exercised, and to hope that a good number of citizens stay home on election day is to hope that the ideals of the American dream go down the toilet. What are you, a speech writer...politician...clergy? Seeing as you don't share my political views, you're probably quite content to watch as politicians continue to ignore the Constitution. Sorry, but I'm already watching the American dream go down the toilet with the Leftist and Chief and his minions ruining, I mean running, the country. At this point, hoping that morons, of any color, stay home on election day would be a blessing because if real change doesn't happen some are going to get real nasty. |

I'm reading the Federalist Papers right now. It's clear that there was a great deal of concern over whether uneducated people should have the right to vote. While I stand for the principal that we should all have that right, we are now experiencing the effect of mining the uneducated voter. |

An apathetic public school system that values longevity over performance and that is held firmly in the crushing grip of the teacher's union? A punitive tax code that punishes success and rewards laziness? Wait, that's welfare. Sorry, I used two guesses. |

Oh, I know... A pop culture that breeds contempt for authority and civil society while glamorizing violence, racism, the abuse of women, and drug use? |

BO may just prove to be a turning point for the US. It just wont be the turning point so many hoped for. It may be the turning point toward the final stage of a Democracy where it fails from the greed of it's own voters. |

Take God out of school, then take spanking out of school, Can't even march the little nippers around because that is considered corporal punishment. Most kids are good and better with proper direction. But, let the bad ones rule and soon the good have no direction. A sound man even knows to take the bad out. One more thing and I'm done stirring the pot for today.

Very well said! It is not just a liberal idea, though. It is a lucrative political ploy. The liberals may not have a monopoly on this, but they have made it the mainstay of their strategy. |

Oh ya, that IDIOT Bush Jr....I bet you miss him and his wacked-out leadership a bunch. I also bet you love being smacked in the head with a hammer Sifo. It is nice to see him awake though. Maybe he can go about the things he really loves now, like singing to himself and whittling on his porch... |

Don't count on it Ferris listening to you on a daily basis will ensure me and as many people as i can drag there will vote. Seriously, there is a real risk of civil disobedience if things continue on this path. Increasingly, I've noticed an upswing in the call for violence, both on talk radio, on public forums and EVEN from ordinary co-workers, friends and acquaintances. Heck, even Blake made mention of it in another thread. Even more shocking is this sentiment is shared by citizens on the left. The frustration is real. The risk is real. Proceed at your own peril. About the only thing on that 'pile' that even is close to reality is spending. BO's spending pile is many times that size though. |
