I recently ordered a set of Streetfighter II headlight brackets from flyncycle.com.  These cost $80. You can get them in slotted and not slotted designs. I felt that $80 was a little pricey, but in the long run it would be worth it for a solid, durable design. They finally came in, and much to my surprise, these "durable" fork clamps are made out of plastic. I assumed they would be aluminum like the bracket head, especially since Fly-n-Cycle offers other metal brackets for less cash (but unfortunately not in the size required by XBs). Just thought I'd give a heads up to anyone that might be considering purchasing a set. Grossly overpriced for what you get.  ~SM | ||

$80 is too much for plastic and a damn good deal for alum IMHO. http://www.flyncycle.com/Streetfighter_Motorcycle_ Headlight_Bracket_p/hlbazh-p.htm here it says that the triangular pieces are alum. which is actually where i want want metal over plastic. | ||

Well, again, I assumed it was aluminum because 1.) they look it in the photo and 2.) who the hell ever heard of plastic fork clamps? They were still twice as expensive as the other steel ones, so yeah, I didn't expect a chunk of plastic. Aluminum would be the next logical step. I went back and checked all their listings, and nowhere do they state what these brackets are made of, even when you're buying them without the arms. $80 for a set of plastic brackets and a couple of stampings is way way overpriced. These brackets in die cast aluminum for $80 would be at least reasonable. I can see no reason why you shouldn't be able buy something like this in aluminum for that cost. One small die required to do these in aluminum (same as what would be required in nylon or plastic). Once the die is paid for the parts are really cheap.....even in aluminum. I bought a set of headlight brackets for my flat track Sportster replica in chrome stamped steel for 20 bucks and they came with two sets of rubber isolators. Would have been nice if something in aluminum was available at the time although they did look nice on the bike. (Message edited by prowler on December 18, 2009) | ||

Fly-N-Cycle normally sells very substandard China stuff. You do not get what you pay for, however I was able to return a headlight/fairing with a 20% restocking plus shipping charge for a piece of crap that was not DOT approved and totally unacceptable to use at night for a headlight. |
