Been discussing political views with a friend. He's certain that mine are on the fringe. Found a quiz, seen it before. It's short and provides immediate analysis based on 11 issues. My result came back as follows:
Your views call for about the same amount of government with just a bit more liberty than we currently have in the United States today. Your views are probably best served by a nearly equal mix of Democrats and Republicans in the legislatures, as long as you choose the correct Democrats and Republicans. Or, if you want to make sure government shrinks a bit, you could throw a few Libertarians into the mix. But just a few. The Libertarian Party calls for radical cuts in government far beyond what you want. Think of a tub of cold bathwater. To get it warm enough to be comfortable, you can add scalding hot water to bring the temperature up to ideal. Approximately 10% of the takers of this quiz scored in this area, 36% for all within the centrist circle. So, according to the above, I'm a centrist leaning towards conservative libertarian? Edit: Here is the link Blake conveniently left out http://www.quiz2d.com/quiz/ (Message edited by froggy on December 09, 2009) Thanks for the edit Froggy! Hmmmmm......
You recognize the inefficiency of having the government run the economy. You also seem to think that the government can do some good in improving people's personal habits in some areas. You fit in the Reagan-Goldwater wing of the Republican party. So, you probably approve of half or so of the Republicans in office, while at other times you might prefer the Constitution Party candidate, or even the Libertarian candidate. Approximately 4% of the takers of this quiz scored in this area, 8% for all conservatives outside the centrist circle. Well, I want some personal freedom but I don't want people smoking dope driving down the same road with my kids coming at them in the opposite direction. I'm not a big drug fan. I love guns and I think everyone should own one, and more importantly, be consistently proficient with it. It is your last defense against.....whatever is after you....fill in the blanks. The government is WAAAAAAAAY too big. The waste and fraud is immense and criminal. I really feel we need to get rid of EVERYONE, I MEAN EVERYONE, in the government right now and replace them with MIDDLE middle class people that know what it is like to be an average American. (I'm sure some will argue that you need to be lower in the food chain to know what it is really like). I so want this country to prosper but I think the "empire" is on the downhill slide now......gotta go buy more ammo for when the "Blue Helmets" trip my outer trip wire and blow the claymores...... You desire substantially less government control of economic activity and somewhat less government control over personal activity than is presently the case in the U.S. I used to classify this area as part of “Moderate Libertarian” but got many objections; I guess calling you a moderate libertarian is akin to calling a liberal Democrat a “Moderate Communist.” Your views would be best represented by a mix of Libertarian and Republican representatives—assuming that it was possible to get a significant number of Libertarians elected. The Libertarian Party is still dominated by people far more radical than you though there is an ongoing effort to make the LP more inclusive and less radical. If you have the patience and willingness do deal with infighting, you may want to join this effort. Or, you might find my proposed new party more to your liking. Approximately 8% of the takers of this quiz scored in this area. |
