It is a scary day when the bad guys aren't afraid of the police. What chance do we have? Especially after the lefties outlaw guns.

Washington is a "shall issue" state. I'm surprised no one in the diner was "packing" .

I worked there in the 90s (Seattle area), no respect for LEOS,I told them try that in LA and you are dead(trying to punch out an officer). That got their attention and they are the mild mannered ones.

Rich, what? Little lost on that post.

As for the story. Saw that earlier today. Was hoping to hear they caught, preferably killed, the guy who did that.

These are a couple local TV stations and have been doing a pretty good job reporting on this story.

Condolences to the victims families, fellow officers, and witnesses of the crimes. Truly the darkest of days in the relatively short history of the Lakewood PD.

Tough time in the town, 4 weeks ago there was another officer shooting in that the suspect targeted cops, he was also implicated in the october fire bombing of the Police Parking lot in Lake Union District. Class act.

Yes Washington is a pack and carry state, you gotta remember that every one of those officers was also packing, I dont think sally sue barista had a chance in hell if she was clutchin heat.

Link states that the person of interest should have been serving a life sentence in prison but a governor set him free. Just ducky.

I saw this on the news last night, thought it was local tho.
Seems we have a Lakewood also.

Sucks wherever it happened, hope they wasted the A-hole.

Update:

Suspect was shot and killed this morning in South Seattle early this morning.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/20 10393433_webarrest01m.html

Thankfully, some closure for the families of the fallen officers after a wild two day chase in and around the Seattle area.

After watching the news and the push of force that they used to surround the Leschi neighborhood (the same neighborhood where a Seattle Officer as killed on Halloween) You could tell this wasnt going to end in a trial.
Probably the first time in ten years they put dogs and helicopters with IR up against the park near I-5.
And it looked like every tom, doug and harry were packing M-4s and full tac gear.

I hope his amigoes are all found, and put in prison for a long time.... no pardons.

hopefully the next time someone thinks about letting people back on the street that shouldn't be there, they think twice or even 3 times.

huckabee might as well retire cause he won't last in any position after this one.

Why do you say that? You might want to do your homework before you answer.

because this nutjob isn't the first person he gave a pardon to that went off and killed someone down the road. even one of of his political advisors mentioned that he's pretty much gonna play hell for that one.

Nevrenuf, you were given a chance to correct yourself but I am afraid you must stay after school for detention because you failed to do your homework. You get a failing grade.

* Huckabee never pardoned Clemmons but rather commuted his sentence from 108 years to 47 years in 2000. That is a big difference.
* Clemmons was sentenced to 108 years in prison for the crime of robbery and theft when he was 16 years old. 16 years old!. Most people would agree that this is an excessive sentence.
* Huckabee said, "They would have seen a 16-year-old kid commit crimes of which normally, there would have been a few years. And if he'd been white and middle-class with a good lawyer he'd have gotten probation, a fine and some counseling. But because he was a young black kid, he got 108 years!"

-------------
If you dislike Huckabee, fine, that is your right to do so, but don't distort facts to reach your political position.

There is no reason to get emotional. You have been making false statements. You were given a chance to get it right but you still insisted on hurling epithets such as "nutjob" rather than using logical facts.

hopefully the next time someone thinks about letting people back on the street that shouldn't be there, they think twice or even 3 times.

Do you really believe that all 16-year olds convicted of robbery should be incarcerated forever? That is slightly unconstitutional.

because this nutjob isn't the first person he gave a pardon to that went off and killed someone down the road.
He didn't pardon Clemmons. Do you believe that no one should ever be pardoned (or sentence commuted) because they might murder someone nine years later? Do you really, or are you being a Monday morning quarterback?
---
Again, if you don't like Huckabee, fine, I really don't care. Get your facts straight especially when I gave you the rhetorical courtesy that you were about to put your foot in your mouth. How does the shoe leather taste?

In addition . . . Huckabee was the only one to man up, accept responsibility for what he did and answer and any all questions.

He got a unanimous (5-0) recommendation from the Parole Board to Commute. Huckabee's office contacted

  • DA's OFfice
  • Local Cops
  • Attorney General
  • Prosecuting Attorney
  • Trial Judge

To get further info . . .

of the above five . . only ONE, the Judge, responded and recommended the commutation.

Huckabee sure wishes he'd not done it now . . . but the fact is he had little/nothing to do with this guys subsequent actions.

I find myself more impressed with Huckabee since 2008 and he plays a mean guitar. It would be great to see him jam with Erik.

Recently being allowed out on $15K bail after raping a minor and assaulting his family is probably more germane to the recent situation than the Arkansas pardon. In fact, I'd say that the judge involved has blood on his hands.

Please don't turn this into a political thread.

What's done is done.

Please keep the families of the fallen officers in your thoughts and prayers.
