Thanks Slick.

Very useful report.

Jramsey,

>>> How did you get the mailings stopped?

I'll have to ask Kim. She is a resourceful girl. And, even after she got their confirmation they wouldn't send anymore, they explained we'd get a few more pieces because we were "in the system". They did stop after a coupla months.

Leaving for the hills here shortly but I'll PM you when I get back with her advise.

AARP's public stance on gun control convinced me years ago that I wanted no part of that organization.

AARP - Maybe this deserves a thread of it's own but it's AARP related and has burned our business again. AARP gets special rates for senior citizens on automobile insurance from The Hartford. Many members have insurance through them. The Hartford has a contract with Enterprise Rental Car so when we repair a car for a Hartford customer they are bound(and we are forced) by contract to use Enterprise. Enterprise upsells rental contracts to include insurance at around $20.00 per day. This "extra" coverage is optional but the reps at Enterprise scare them into believing the must have it. Most customers don't realize they DO NOT have to buy the insurance and the cost IS NOT covered under their rental policy. In most states your full coverage insurance will transfer to a rental car while your car is being repaired, Indiana included. We've had two customers in the last month that were "tricked" into initialing the extra coverage option. When they picked up their vehicle they were astounded to find they owed $100.00 or more in insurance fees from Enterprise. Many of these folks simply don't have the money especially when they're on a fixed income and are already paying a $500.00 deductible. We have discontinued business with Enterprise with the exception of Hartford customers. In these cases we are going to send a rep with the customer at the time they sign the rental contract to prevent this gouging. I can't believe that brand-name companies would resort to such tactics but they obviously have no moral guidelines.

Insurance is, always has been, and continue to be an opt out item that is purchased to mitigate foreseeable risks for a stated asset.
If you dont believe that risk applies to you... YOU SHOULDNT have to purchase insurance.
You can tell the bozos that wrote this healthcare legislation have no concept of how healthcare or Insurance works.

On the upside, I got my first client last week, new lawyer firm looking to ramp up a special medical team. Y'all were warned.
