Looks real to me. My guess it’s the bikes off the demo truck.
If any one finds the scrap yard these bike are going to can you post up the info. I have a little project (cough track bike cough) and need to buy about 7 tons of scrap metal. I got no problem picking it up my self either.
Although HD will probably make sure that ground down before they let them out of their sight.

When I was in high school we used to pull into the Arbys drive through at 1059 order a coke and leave with full munchie baggies.
I had friends in low places.

Pity I dont live near E Troy.

It really is a a shame they won't rescue the wheels and things that wouldn't really have any problems. I can kind of see about the frames, but most of the rest of the stuff could be reused. Even if I had to sign a paper saying that I could not hold them responsible in any way shape or form it would make a good parts cache for a very long time.

Ok, this higher resolution version looks better. I didn't see what appeared to be blatant cut and paste though back into photoshop I noticed over use of the smart filter on all of the bikes but not on the dumpster and artifacts are inconsistent with a jpeg. The little funny jpeg compression artifacts are gone and replaced by overly smoothed or blended tones.
The two bikes closest barely have artifact consistent with the rest of them and that little white patch next to the green one further up stand out like sore thumbs. too smooth and defined compared to the black blasts tank... The bikes in the front look like a paint by numbers compared even to areas of the dumpster behind them.
There even appears to be inconsistency with the detail fore-, middle, and aft..
I think know I've looked at it too much. Maybe I'm in denial that someone could do that to all of those bikes. You'd think that parts bikes would have their bits salvaged. They salvage crap all of the time, I've seen wrecks smashed to hell getting pawned off as rebuilds or parts so... it's just hard to think this is real. Is it plausible? Sure I guess so, you always think when you see certain things that they couldn't write the script because nobody would believe the truth. So If it is, I guess it wouldn't surprise me. But I still need to be taken away on the alien craft in order to believe that particular one myself. : )

Sadly this picture is a true waste. The caption should be "HD Stimulus Bill".

Fraud, waste and abuse. : (

On the brighter side...it can ONLY get better from here. Unless someone takes my Buells from me, it can ONLY get better from here. ; )

Yep . . and they'll have to sign off on the official documents so nothing could go wrong.

: )

. . . . like tossing a dozen trash bikes picked up in Waterford in the crusher. : )

One mans trash bikes is another mans treasure.

Hope someone finds the pot of gold their looking for.

I've been on the receiving end of a container like that too many times to even fake a smidgen of surprise to see that one.

Kinda wish the stamped Buell on the frame of that Uly there made it. That's pretty cool.

Oh, and Dave...It's a cell phone camera pic. Seriously?

Look at the exif data. If there was photoshopping done to this most likely 1.2-2.0 megapixel camera shot, it'd be pretty obvious. There is none, face it.

yeah, you're right... I was just trying to push devils advocacy beyond it's reasonable limit -- drives my wife crazy.
Oh, and Froggy's cartoon gives me another idea how to push the absurd

It's a real photo and not all that rare.

Like every manufacturer Buell pretty much buys one of everything made every year and also has a fleet of "mules" that are carrying test instruments and everything from technical innovations to styling ideas.

I rode B-031 for a while and managed to "loose" it for 2 years after it completed it's life as a test mule. The green bodywork, currently on my S2, was a 1996 styling idea that Mike thought of. We painted up a complete set of bodywork, fitted it on the Buell and then I was sent to the BMW annual gig in North Carolina with instructions to park the bike, sit about 50 yards away and just see how folks reacted.

The next year Amazon Green appeared on the new S3. In fact the endurance testing I did, on an S3 the year before it was released, was on an Amazon green one. Those were fun days . . . I'd fly into Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon, a couple of the guys would be configuring the bike, Dave Ulicki would pick me up from the airport and the moment the sun went down I'd set out to be in Topeka with the bike out of sight by the next morning. A little disguising and no one in Topeka, save Haworth and Zimmerman, knew what they were looking at.

The weak link was the stupid rider. The first time I did this I departed East Troy as the sun was setting and headed out for the 600 mile overnight journey having never ridden in really cold weather. I figured I'd just "tough it out" . . . . . that worked until about the truck stop in Beloit. I learned a LOT about cold weather riding.

Fun stuff . . . . .

I always thought they should crush the test riders with the bikes . . you know . . put some frickin' "skin in the game".

I still wonder on to files of my daily test reports from time to time and they always bring back GREAT memories . . . The scary part is when I think back of all the things I reported and the way the HD folks scoffed them off as "anecdotal alarmism" from a construction worker.

: )

I kept all the records of the things they told me were in my mind . . . the failed isolators in Fort Worth, TX . . . the side stand switch that went out on a 19oF day in Perry, OK. . . . the shock I broke in half . . . at Mile Marker 186 . . . . the piston I exploded on a cold day on a remote section of highway 4 . . . . . I will say that the folks from Buell were amazing though all of this. It's a shame that HD didn't learn something from the Buell processes and procedures. If they had the XR1200 and the Night Train wouldn't have cut so deeply.

I've never wanted to steal a whole dumpster before... but I guess there is a first time for everything.

My second thought is a whole bunch of Buell owners sitting across the street in lawn chairs like the guys outside Area 51 waiting for something to go in so they could go running and grab it.

Ya, I need help.

I have seem a pic of that bike recently and I think you know which one. I was never a fan of that color but it does look great on the S2 with white frame. I must say Court, I still favor the "Lap of America" body work and hope you have that stashed somewhere.

Koz5150 don't feel bad I just want the filler loop off of one of the colored air box covers. I have to buy the whole airbox cover to get one.

It's better than "stashed" . . it has been lovingly restored by one of the best in the business and the bike, now at 111RWHP, will wear the bodywork next year and make a couple interesting appearances.

Just messing with ya Court, BTW thanks again for writing the History of Buell book. I think it is the only book I have read front to back in the last 5 years.

Don't know whether that particular picture is real or not..

I will say, I did work as a contractor at Honda Motorcycles Marysville some years ago. I was amazed at how many motorcycles that were NOT Honda that were in that place. All new bikes of every model including Harley. They routinely took them apart, studied them, benchmarked them, and scraped every piece. I asked if they sold any of the pieces and parts and the answer was absolutely no.

I have to imagine that every motorcycle manf. and car manf. routinely does the same thing. Just shocking to see for me anyhow...
